Fall Preview: Freshman WR Dylan Denson Could Make an Early Impact for Troy @JDenson_9
One of the most intriguing newcomers to watch this fall is freshman wide receiver Dylan Denson, a three-star prospect from powerhouse American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 0 pounds, Denson arrives in Troy after a decorated prep career that showcased his consistency, explosiveness, and championship pedigree.
During his senior season, Denson hauled in 65 receptions for 953 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning All-Broward County honors while helping the Patriots advance deep into the Florida 4A playoffs. He followed a standout junior campaign in which he posted 49 catches for 758 yards and 10 scores, helping lead American Heritage to a 12-2 record, district title, and Florida 4A state championship. Over three seasons, Denson amassed an impressive 136 receptions for 2,033 yards and 28 touchdowns, proving himself as one of South Florida's most productive receivers.
As Troy enters the 2026 season under new head coach Gerad Parker, Denson could find opportunities early thanks to his polished route running, dependable hands, and experience competing against elite high school competition. While the Trojans feature veteran talent at receiver, Denson's versatility and playmaking ability could allow him to carve out a role in the rotation or on special teams.
His football IQ and winning background make him one of the most exciting freshmen in the program. If Denson adapts quickly to the college game, don't be surprised if the former American Heritage standout becomes a contributor sooner rather than later.
