📖 Beyond Hegemonic Boundaries: Celebrating India's Regional Literary Diversity
The Centre for Comparative Literature, University of Hyderabad, launched "Beyond Frontiers: Interdisciplinary Readings in Indian Regional Literature" online on 30 October 2026. The volume is edited It brings together interdisciplinary research on Indian regional literatures. It treats literature as dialogic and comparative, shaped by many languages and cultures and not confined by the borders of any one region or nation.
The book was formally unveiled by Chief Guest Prof. A. S. Dasan, formerly Head, Department of English, University of Mysore. He said the essays stimulate innovative thinking and open new perspectives on human experience.
🔹 Prof. T. Vijay Kumar (formerly Osmania University) said the volume consolidates diverse literary traditions, opens room for younger scholars and shows why translation matters in Comparative Literature.
🔹 Prof. Nandini Bhattacharya (University of Burdwan) said it brings Indian literatures together beyond regional and national affiliations.
🔹 Prof. Darla Venkateswara Rao (Department of Telugu, UoH) called it a torchbearer for collaboration between departments.
🔹 Prof. Vamshi Krishna Reddy, Head of the Centre, said it widens the scope of comparative study of vernacular literatures.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Tanmoy Mazumdar, and Ms. Lalhriatpuii proposed the vote of thanks.

The University of Hyderabad marked Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on 31 October 2026, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Registrar Dr. Devesh Nigam administered the pledge at the main nistration Building, and centres and units across campus also took the pledge. ✨
🌍 Centre for Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences: faculty, staff and students took the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge together at 11:00 AM in the Earth Sciences building.
🗺️ Centre for Regional Studies, School of Social Sciences: members of the Centre took the pledge at 11:00 AM in the CRS Meeting Room.
🏃 NSS Cell, UoH: after the Run for Unity, volunteers, faculty and students stood hand on heart and took the Unity Pledge at the Vivekananda Students' Amenities Centre.

The NSS Cell, University of Hyderabad, together with the Dean, Students’ Welfare, marked National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on 31 October 2026. The day is the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and the th a “Run for Unity”. 🤝
The programme was part of the Government of India’s nationwide effort to promote unity, integrity and national security.
📍 NSS volunteers, faculty members and students ran from the University Main Gate to the Vivekananda Students’ Amenities Centre. Participants included:
🔹 Prof. A. Naresh, Head, CALTS & Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare
🔹 Prof. Bhimsingh, Department of Hindi
🔹 Dr. Bashetty Latha, Associate Professor
🔹 Dr. Anjeneya Swami Kare, School of Computer and Information Sciences
✋ After the run, everyone took the National Unity Day Pledge, promising to protect the unity and integrity of the nation.
🗣️ Voices from the gathering:
✅ Prof. A. Naresh said everyone has a role in fighting social evils like drug abuse. He urged the campus community to work together for a healthy, harmonious campus. 🌱
✅ Prof. Bhimsingh recalled the sacrifices national leaders made to keep India united. He asked young people to take an active part in nation-building and social harmony. 💪
✅ Dr. Bashetty Latha said India is moving towards the vision of Viksit Bharat, and that collective effort and unity are the only way to get there. 🚀
✅ Dr. Anjeneya Swami Kare urged students to get their peers involved in activities that build national integration and civic responsibility. 🎯
✅ Dr. B. Krishnaiah, NSS Coordinator, spoke about how Sardar Patel brought the princely states into the Indian Union after Independence. He asked everyone to stay alert and help keep the country’s social fabric strong. 🏛️
🌟 The programme closed with all participants pledging to live by Sardar Patel’s ideals: unity, national integration and responsible citizenship.

On 31 October 2026, 40 first-semester MA students from the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, visited Gachibowli Police Station with Asst. Prof. Anjali Lal Gupta. The visit was part of their ism Practice course. 🎓
Here’s what they took away:
🔍 Drug cases and young people: Inspector-in-Charge K. Saidulu talked about how peer influence and money troubles can draw students into drug cases.
📂 How a case works: SI P. Jayaprakash Kumar Goud showed them how complaints are handled, the difference between cognizable and non-cognizable offences, and a real case file with its FIR and digital evidence.
🖥️ The station’s systems: the writer’s desk, the CCTV room, CCTNS records, and the four-wheeler and Blue bike patrols.
👮♀️ Women’s safety: at the Women Police Station, SI K. Swetha spoke about the Bharosa and Sakhi centres. SHO Mogulicharla Ravi said he hopes to see more women SHOs in the future and encouraged the students to consider joining the police.

Students learned how policing works in practice, which a textbook or a news report can’t fully show. 🙌
