Democrats need to start the process to get another constitutional amendment on the ballot to establish an independent redistricting commission. It can pass in 2027 and Russo will ensure the ballot language is actually fair.
A Democrat will be running Ohio's elections in 2028
And Ohio citizens will be able to place amendments / initiatives on the ballot without fear that the Ballot Board will twist the wording
This is massive.

Breaking: Gov. Brian Kemp just said he will *not* call a special legislative session to redraw Georgia’s political boundaries or limit the powers of Gov.-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms. @ajc #gapol

Ohio spent $1.17 billion on private school vouchers in 2026, while public schools remain underfunded. For the second year in a row, more than $1 billion in taxpayer dollars went to private schools.

Here's a cute lil horrifying preview of what Ohio Statehouse Republicans may try to pass before they lose their supermajority at the end of the year
If @GovMikeDeWine has any honor or pride in his office, he needs to veto these bills
If @GovMikeDeWine has any honor or pride in his office, he needs to veto these bills
Ohio’s election is over.
Democrats took the Governor’s race.
What happens next?
Over the next few months, the Republican legislature’s lame-duck supermajority will look to dismantle executive power.
Essentially all of Ohio’s gubernatorial authority is statutory, not constitutional.
- Appointment authority
- Contracting authority
Just about everything short of controlling the National Guard.
This means that the legislature can:
- revoke it
- amend it
- seize it
- abolish it
The election was sensational, but the really interesting part comes next.

will Mike DeWine commit to vetoing every power grab this legislature attempts during lame duck?

Ohioans voted overwhelmingly for @amyactonoh to be our Governor. Overriding Ohio’s votes like this would be a slap in the face.
Ohioans demand bipartisan action to lower costs - not corrupt political power games.
Gov @MikeDeWine must veto any absurd GOP sore loser strategies.

Joint governing or gridlock? Dems busted the Ohio House GOP supermajority. But what does it mean. (Also, Matt Huffman's spokes tells me he's running for speaker again.)

Why is Matt Huffman running again? Didn't he just lose like 8-12 Ohio House seats in one night?

not only will the Republicans no longer have a veto proof majority, they won't even have the 3/5 needed to put fuckery like issue 3 on the ballot
Ohio House Dems flipped 8 seats. A 9th seems headed to an automatic recount, as GOP Rep. @AbramsforOhio won by 19 votes.
Minority Leader Dani @Isaacsohn: "We have an opportunity not just to hold back (the GOP's) worst tendencies. ...We have the opportunity to actually govern."
