MIT study was on people writing timed SAT essays with ChatGPT. They offloaded the drafting and showed less brain activity on that specific task. Makes sense for a boring, constrained assignment.
In arts and entertainment the pattern is usually the opposite. When people use AI for ideation, variation, and exploration instead of pure outsourcing, studies show higher individual creativity scores, more output, and better results, especially for visual work, stories, and design. Different use case, different outcome.
