We finished in the top 7–8 of the FACEIT Overwatch Master League. After an entire season of scrims, official matches, VOD reviews, and countless hours of work, our reward was $83.33.

Playing in lower divisions would probably be more profitable than playing seriously in Tier 2, which says a lot about the current state of the ecosystem. And the introduction of the new FACEIT Finals division only makes the whole situation even more questionable.

The comparison with other esports is difficult to ignore. In some Tier 3 League of Legends competitions, players can earn enough money to treat the game like a full-time job.

Meanwhile, a top-8 finish in the FACEIT Overwatch Master League barely amounts to anything. This isn’t about complaining. We’re proud of what we achieved.

The point is simple a scene cannot grow if the people who dedicate their time, energy and passion to it receive almost nothing in return.
The tier 2 scene deserves better.

And it’s not just the players. Coaches, managers, analysts and content creators all invest an enormous amount of time to keep the scene alive.

People often underestimate what Tier 2 actually looks like. Players are expected to train consistently, review games, study opponents, maintain schedule and constantly improve while balancing work, studies and their personal lives.
