This is the Infinity Stone Thanos wanted more than almost anything.
In his quest to restore balance to the universe, he was especially obsessed with the Power Stone. The Power Stone is one of the six Infinity Stones. It can massively enhance the user's strength and physical replicate the physical powers of others. In Avengers: Endgame, Thanos used the Power Stone's energy to punch Captain Marvel and send her flying.
The Power Stone has an incredibly ancient history. As far back as 80 million years ago, Eson the Searcher of the Celestials once wielded it to destroy countless planets across the universe. Later, the Power Stone fell into the hands of a mysterious group. They tried to absorb its energy into their own bodies, but the power backfired on them. So, they sealed it inside the Orb and hid it on Morag.
In 2014, Star-Lord, also known as Quill, arrived on Morag and successfully found the Orb, but unexpectedly, his discovery immediately attracted multiple forces, including Ronan, the Ravagers, Yondu, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Eventually, Ronan seized the Orb and mounted the Power Stone onto his weapon. After gaining its power, Ronan became completely overconfident. He even planned to use it to destroy Xandar. But during the battle, Ronan's weapon was hit by a missile. In the explosion, the Power Stone was knocked loose from the weapon. Star-Lord rushed forward and grabbed it, but he was immediately overwhelmed by its terrifying energy. Luckily, the Guardians of the Galaxy joined hands and shared the Stone's power among themselves. Together, they managed to defeat Ronan.
After the battle, the Guardians of the Galaxy handed the Power Stone over to the Nova Corps for safekeeping. However, this also gave Thanos a clear target. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos and his army invaded Xandar, defeated the Nova Corps, and successfully took the Power Stone. At that point, at that, his Infinity Gauntlet already held one Infinity Stone.
Then in Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel confronted Thanos head-on. She tried to stop him from snapping his fingers again and even managed to hold his arm in place. But unexpectedly, Thanos simply removed the Power Stone from the Gauntlet and punched Captain Marvel away. Yet, the one who truly turned the battle around was Iron Man. Just when everyone thought the fight was already over, Tony secretly used his nanotechnology to transfer all six Infinity Stones from Thanos's Gauntlet onto himself. Then he snapped his fingers and finally ended Thanos's plan for good.
