A constructive meeting in Warsaw with Polish Prime Minister @donaldtusk.

A good opportunity to discuss bilateral economic cooperation, investment in security and military mobility, and boosting our defence industry. Rail Baltica is a key project for military mobility.

I used ent 🇱🇹priorities during our EU Council Presidency and discuss negotiations on the 🇪🇺 Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034.

Today in Warsaw, together with Polish President @NawrockiKn, we commemorate the 235th anniversary of the Mutual Pledge of the Two Nations.

Adopted on 20 October 1791, this act supplemented the Constitution of 3 May by explicitly establishing the parity of the Kingdom of Poland Lithuania within the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Back then, we were united by a shared commitment to preserve our statehood. Today 🇱🇹&🇵🇱 continue working together to build a secure, resilient and united Europe!

A warm meeting with Polish President @NawrockiKn. The main topic – resilience of our countries and societies.

Both 🇱🇹 and 🇵🇱 face hybrid attacks, cyber attacks, sabotage and disinformation campaigns. Repeated airspace violations and interference with global satellite navigation new reality.

🇱🇹 & 🇵🇱 must remain vigilant and resilient. We focus on protecting critical infrastructure, urgently finding effective solutions to counter UAVs, and strengthening air defence.

Met with CERN Council President Prof. Costas Fountas to discuss Lithuania’s long-standing cooperation with CERN and ambition to become a full member of @CERN.

🇱🇹 is ready to contribute more to CERN’s scientific and technological progress. Our strengths in lasers, photonics, ering, alongside our scientific and business expertise, offer clear benefits for both sides.

Full membership would provide more opportunities for Lithuania to contribute to European science, technology, and overall competitiveness.

Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is spilling over onto the Eastern flank of NATO and EU.

This morning, NATO fighter jets stationed at Šiauliai Air Base scrambled once again after an unidentified object entered Lithuanian airspace.

What appears to be a drone exploded over the northern part of the country, posing a danger to the civilian population. Our specialists are currently working at the site.

Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland are fully committed to implementing the strategic Rail Baltica railway project in the new #MFF period!

Today, I arrived at #EUCO determined to reach the #MFF deal until the end of the year.

The proposal of the Irish Presidency is well balanced and preserves the CAP and the Cohesion Policy. However, we need to keep intact the CEF funding, especially on military mobility & Eastern bordneeds to be ambitious. The size of the budget matters. Further cuts to the funding would risk losing EU priorities!

I also stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine. We need to keep the pressure on Russia, implement the santions, cut Russian revenues for its war machine.

I am glad to see two additional negotiation clusters opened. Ukraine needs positive signals, and only Europe is able to see the remaining clusters opened as soon as possible.

Finally, I adressed all the allied and partner states. We all are friends. We are all on this side of history. Russia is on the other side, and it challenges our democratic values so dear to us.

We must all stay united, in one strong family of like minded nations!

In a phone call with @eucopresident António Costa, I stressed the need for the EU to focus on supporting Ukraine and phasing out Russian energy resources.

At the #EUCO this week, I expect a serious discussion on competitiveness and #MFF priorities. The EU’s eastern flank must get the attention it deserves!

Today, I observed “Thunder of Perkūnas 26”, the largest military exercise of the year.

During the exercise, the Lithuanian Armed Forces train to carry out tasks set out in national defense plans in coordination with NATO forces, the Ministry of the Interior, and other agencies.
NATO are a particularly important element of the exercise. We are not alone — the deployment of U.S. and German military units in Lithuania is clear evidence of that.

These joint exercises further strengthen our readiness to defend ourselves together, if necessary, and to protect the freedom and values we all share.

Together with 🇪🇪 @KristenMichalPM and 🇱🇻 @AndrisKulbergs, we urge the EU to ban the transit of Russian grain through EU territory.

Russia is attacking Ukraine’s critical economic infrastructure while seeking to use European facilities for its own exports. The EU must not become a channel to feed Russia’s war of aggression.
