I just started the "Arcane Dash - A Pixel Adventure" demo and I already know I’m in trouble 😅
In the game, I took on the role of Ilenor. His magic wand, his cauldron, and many diamonds were stolen by Thazelius, who also cat, Shadowtongue 🐈. And that simply shouldn't have happened 👿
It’s up to us to make our way through a wealth of beautiful pixels and try to reclaim everything that was taken from Ilenor. The experience is highly reminiscent of those classic platformers we used to play for hours: crisp, well-defined pixel art, fluid movement, and levels packed with enemies and traps that demand your full attention without ever becoming overly difficult.
The demo gives you full access to Episode 1 (Glimmelion) in the true spirit of 80s/90s shareware: it’s a full quarter of the game, completely free, with no time limits and no restrictions.
🎮 Controls are simple (jump and shoot) and the game never needs to hold your hand. I played using an Xbox Series controller, and the controls are highly responsive, fast and lag-free.
🎶 The MIDI soundtrack and 8-bit style effects lock in perfectly with the action and make the whole thing addictive from the first screen.
Right from the start you can feel the care put into the hand-crafted stages, the parallax backgrounds and that pure retro atmosphere.
🙌 Huge respect to the solo dev behind it (@ArcaneDashGame). After 30 years of dreaming he turned that passion into something that genuinely captures the old-school magic.
If you love classic 2D platformers, do yourself a favor: download the free demo and add the full game to your wishlist. It launches mid-November and I already can’t wait to play more.

ELANDRAKE turned me into a Borg!😱 (yeah, Star Trek style). It’s an incremental twin-stick shooter developed by @i2_Games. The core loop is assimilating mineral fragments floating in space to grow your ability tree and unlock upgrades.
In between you’ve got runs where you ty, my beautiful space octopus, while fighting off waves of enemy fleets.
The prologue / tutorial threw me straight in: assimilate, fight, and the on-screen prompts explain the controls clearly, simply, and with a bit of energy. Then you hit the “assimilate and upgrade” phase with short runs and countdowns that kind of killed the momentum at first.
Honestly I was about to quit… but I stuck around a bit longer and I’m glad I did. As your little ability tree grows you start unlocking ways to make the runs longer, grab more fragments, and get some actual luxury stuff (like jumping on comets and riding them for damage). Once the runs get longer the pacing feels right again and the game gets way more engaging.
Visually it’s solid, everything on screen is clear and easy to read. Movement is super fluid for "my octopus", the fragments, and the enemies. The gun sounds aren’t annoying and kind of remind me of Star Wars. The background music has its own groove, doesn’t get in the way, and fits the different phases pretty well.
If you’re into incrementals and space twin-stick shooters, give the demo a shot on Steam.

Fair warning though: after the tutorial the early assimilation phases are a bit short and less lively. Don’t bail immediately… stick with it, assimilate, and you’ll see how fun and addictive that ability tree can get.
