FORTNITE IS NOW CONFIRMED TO BE COMING TO LINUX SOON
Epic Games on the long-term solution for Easy Anti-Cheat Linux v2:
To close the gap for Linux, we are rebuilding our Linux anti-cheat implementation into EAC Linux v2. We will bring the level of protection much closer to par with Windows, in the very near-term, using existing g signed kernel, signed kernel modules, and secure boot with attestation. These requirements build on work that distribution maintainers already do, and the more distributions that meet these requirements by default, the fewer players will need to change their setup to play.
We are also planning to pilot EAC Linux v2 in Fortnite first, where we’ll test it in a live environment and refine it based on what we learn. Once we’ve validated EAC v2’s effectiveness, we’ll make it available to more game developers so they can bring their multiplayer games to Linux players too.

@FortniteLinux @TimSweeneyEpic Im happy its coming to linux but the requirements feel more strict than Windows. Tpm 2.0 and secure boot required, kernel and all modules must be signed and kernel lockdown integrity mode. So this means that my current distro arch linux wont work due to unsigned kernel/modules

@FortniteLinux > TPM 2.0 + Secure Boot required
> Signed kernel modules required, so it only works on mid distros
> BPF LSM required to be active because they want kernel access
> Official signed graphics drivers required, so no open-source drivers allowed if Nvidia stops supporting your GPU

@FortniteLinux It is actually happening once the new anti-cheat is ready for Linux. x.com/AGTPinsights/s…
Epic Games just released a rebuilt Epic Games Launcher in Preview, and says it beats Steam on speed. Here's what you need to know.
Epic announced it with a post saying, "We vibe coded the Epic Games Launcher to be faster than the other guy." It invited people to test it .co/kst1fLhSFU. The post pulled over 430K views within hours.
The new launcher is a new foundation and is no longer built on Unreal Engine. Epic describes this first release as light on features, more speedboat than yacht. It says the launcher is faster and will have some bugs. Users can report problems with the "Send Feedback" button in the launcher.
Epic's own comparison against Steam, as shared by leakers:
Key numbers:
- Startup: 5.47s vs 10.07s, 1.8x faster
- Library load: 0.36s vs 0.42s, 1.2x faster
- Store opens 3x faster
- Tab switching is almost instant
Fortnite is also coming to Linux. Epic says the current Easy Anti-Cheat on Linux can't protect games as well as on Windows. So it is rebuilding it as EAC Linux v2, with protection much closer to Windows. It is working with distro maintainers like Fedora and Ubuntu on security requirements. Fortnite will be the first to test it, then other developers can adopt it. Fortnite will come to Linux through the Epic launcher once enough distro maintainers are on board. There's no release date yet.
The Steam Deck won't be supported at first because it lacks security features the new anti-cheat needs. Epic is reportedly in talks with Valve about it.
Reaction has been mixed. Some mocked the "vibe coded" wording, pointing to a recent Bloomberg article about Epic's AI use. Others said the launcher does less than Steam and that Steam is still better. Some praised the blunt tone.
Epic's new launcher is live in Preview now, with Linux Fortnite to follow once EAC Linux v2 is ready.
