IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING!!!
THE ORIGIN & THE VISITOR - RETURNING SOON ‼️🔥
- Both teased by Epic Dev @EpicTofuChris
- There are two mysterious stones on the island that have their logos, with two trees surrounded by dozens of butterflies directly below them.
I think it's only a matter of time now 👀

Personally even though I’m a fan of the old animations, I never went as far to do crazy things as some other ppl did .
With this being the only comment that any epic staff has made about the animations since 2023, I don’t think it’s ever coming back.
My apologies to the team members who got doxxed and death threats.

@Phyxorr Seriously, not for me with that. Death threats and Doxxing to team members over anims, I'm not even entertaining the convo about it. Full stop.
I already get enough from the Ranked audience as is.
Not my expertise.

@CoolioNeruet your reasoning for liking the New Seven, and i really dont entirely dislike them, but I think the main criticism here comes from the fact that after *3 years* of waiting for alot of the comm's favorite characters to return, Chapter 7 was advertised as this big return for "THE SEVEN" and it has hardly been that.
The Order being the first to arrive was a smart move, and she deserved spotlight for far longer than she got. Visitor Unknown brought an interesting aspect of the Seven to the story, during a time when he was believed to be from an alternate one. This made room for cool possible dynamics while we still thought the plot would lead into the actual Seven. Foundation is when it all went downhill, though. Huge gaps in lore with zero explanations began occurring, the "New Seven" was established which began to show everyone Chapter 7's original advertising wasnt what we thought it was, and since that point we've gotten *4* unceremonious recruitments to the team. No cinematics of reunions between Foundation + Jones + Slone, no cinematics of Singularity/Hope/Slone joining the seven, and an ever-expanding cast of characters that makes it impossible to slow down and flesh out the ones we just got back.
That is the core issue behind "The New Seven". It's not that they havent had time to be established yet, its that during a time when fans of the lore finally thought some of the most iconic characters were returning, it ended up being a completely new team thats grown so large so quick that none of the individual characters have been able to hold the spotlight and really connect with the audience. The Order, for example, started off INCREDIBLY strong (and she honestly deserved to be the main character of ch7) but has now been reduced to the repeating "my father killed the imagined, im vengeful" and nothing else. All the while Jones is somehow the one destined to face off against Geno, not her.
I firmly believe they shouldnt have plastered the seven all over ch7 advertising and made it such a big deal if The Order was going to be the only member of the seven to be here consistently through the chapter. Foundation returned for 1 season, acted completely nonsensical, and went MIA. And Order, the only OG member, has hardly been the focus.

I take back what I said about people wanting OG movement back because this is unexcusable
Here is a thread of Fortnite movement "issues" I've noticed (updating as I find more).
Some are fixable, while others are just inherent to motion matching. I really hope Epic brings back the OG animations (state machines) in Chapter 8.
@TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii @EpicTofuChris --------------------------------------------------------
1. when changing directions, the character fully leans like is lost balance and the legs start scrambling.

its crazy how long it took for someone to recompile actually valid reasons why the new movement is a downgrade to og movement. all it took was for someone to not constantly yell “REMOVE NEW MOVEMENT” all the time and actually make fair points

My issues with The New Seven, and why I prefer the old team. 🧵
I’d like to preface this by saying I don’t HATE The New Seven, I think they’re alright, I just prefer the old Seven. This is my opinion, there’s no need to be disrespectful about it.

To clarify and answer a lot of repeating questions I’ve seen about the movement
1- when ppl say OG movement/Og animations etc. they are talking about the animations (locomotion system) not about movement mechanics like sprinting, mantling, moving while healing etc. They can bring back the animations and keep all the mechanics.
2-No, it can’t be a toggle to select which animations you want to see, the locomotion systems are completely different and everyone needs to see the same animations replicated to prevent desync and poor hit registration. It’s not purely a visual/cosmetic thing,
3-Yes we can have a hybrid system where we have OG animations(state machines) for base animations like running, sprinting, jump, strafing, crouching. And have motion matching for wall climbing, mantling etc. we had this in chapter 5 where jumping and tactical sprint still used state machines(OG anims)
4-Yes motion matching(ch5 anims) reduces performance - it is more cpu intensive as the cpu has to constantly query a database of poses to calculate the next pose of your character.

The use of Motion Matching in a 100-player battle royale is technically impressive from a dev perspective, and it makes a great demo for UE5+ and Epic's UEFN goals.
But it's bad for core Fortnite gameplay-wise and aesthetically.
There's a reason no other multiplayer shooter uses it.

I did a pretty decently sized comparison on some of these more important ones back during simpsons, so yeah i agree, address these actual issues with the anims

THIS !!
We as a community have tried time and time again for epic to make the game better.
It’s always “crybaby” or “let it go bro”
Dude. No.
Epic has to see these..do something..it’s no longer about what feels better, it now comes down to laziness.

Nice to see ppl talking about this stuff more in a normal manner. Avoided talking about it for years for various reasons but we're past that.
The game feels a lot much worse now as a result of the anim changes imo. Had multiple friends stop playing when they were changed :/

It is genuinely great that we are finally talking about the animations sensibly and intelligently, these have been an issue for me for a while as I think they are fundamentally flawed, thank god we are giving out criticisms well now.
