AI spend per person tripled in six months. What engineers worked on barely moved.
Jellyfish Research data from March to August 2026 shows:
- AI spend per user went from $37 to $115 a week.
- New features went from 57% to 56% of engineering work.
- Maintenance went from 25% to ame mix of work is more activity. It isn’t a change in what the business gets.
If AI is part of your 2027 headcount case, the question to answer isn’t “how much more output?” It’s “where does the freed capacity go?”

His goal is to take the embarrassment out of getting screened. A colonoscopy can find precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer, and polyps were removed joins @ScottHickle on Episode 1 of our podcast, Dying of Embarrassment. They explore why embarrassment shouldn't stand in the way of screening.
