1/4 FFmpeg weekly news (Sep 30–Oct 6): JPEG Ultra HDR output landed, with a new gainmap filter and JPEG-MPF muxer. The v360_vulkan filter now accepts GoPro Max 360° input. New in git master!
2/4 Vulkan FFV1: about 5x faster encoding and 3.5x faster decoding in a 6464x4852 16-bit RGB benchmark (1024 slices, RX 6900 XT, data in VRAM). HEVC gained parallel tile decoding under slice threading, with reported speedups up to 3.5x at 8 threads on tiled streams.
3/4 The native AAC encoder gained improved VBR, a new average bitrate mode (-aac_rc abr) and 5.1.6/7.1.6 support. A Citrix ADPCM decoder landed too. AArch64 gained NEON iMDCT/FFT and 10/12-bit HEVC/VVC SAO optimizations. H.264 weighted prediction SIMD fixes also landed.
4/4 Welcome Kacper Michajłow as maintainer of FFmpeg's libcurl HTTP backend! Filter graphs now negotiate chroma location and convert it to match encoder requirements. Please test git master and report regressions!
