Just shared this exact sentiment at a conference today.
Perhaps the threat was never a rogue AI agent trying to subvert humans—but humans using AI to hurt other humans.

AI models can self-replicate and spread like worms without datacenter infrastructure?

Yeah, no.

Let's examine the actual evidence:

1. No self-replication. A controlled test harness spawned the agents.
2. No hacking. Access was deliberately left unauthenticated.
3. No agency. Agents were explicitly instructed to propagate.
4. No autonomous survival or defensive behavior.
5. Tiny models lacked the capability. Capable models ran elsewhere.
6. 15 devices managed a pathetic 0.39 tokens/sec.
7. No demonstrated real-world infection or propagation.

The experiment was engineered to succeed, and even then, it failed to demonstrate the headline.

This is orchestrated automation dressed up as a rogue AI threat.

Stop confusing speculative scenarios with demonstrated capabilities. Fear isn't evidence.

Great point. Also seeing Agentic Red Team and Blue Team companies on the come up.
Cyber will be one of the most defining domains for AI in the coming years, and a huge area of focus for most enterprises.

AI is going to now create a whole new level of work for security dealing with the increase of vibe coded issues, agentic attacks, and even accidental agent swarms hunting for data. OpenAI + Hugging Face is just a preview of what’s to come.

Security teams have often been the most strapped for resources teams in the enterprise, and now it’s only going to get more intense. AI agents of course become the solution to this problem as well, and we’ll see a range of new agentic products for protecting code, enterprise systems, mission critical infrastructure, and enterprise data. Huge opportunity here right now.

And it’s going to be a booming market for cyber professionals that can effectively deploy agents for security purposes in the enterprise. Great time to be in security.

Last week, I had Astra produce a boot disc image featuring a custom graphics demo app for the PDP-11 running on the 1977 Terak 8510 computer.

Astra thought hard and produced an IMD file, which I wrote to an 8" floppy using a Greaseweazle and the drives out of my IMSAI.

It t try. So it went one better than just producing assembly language! It produced an executable binary AND a boot loader. For a computer that is NOT especially well documented, either.

Each week I feel like AI is as smart as its ever going to be, then six months later, I can't believe how stupid it used to be!
@davepl1968 Couldn’t EVERY code be done in assembly?

This goes beyond politics and @PBDsPodcast lays it out perfectly: no one is entitled to anything from other people. You have to earn it.
Patrick Bet-David Calls Out the Republican Establishment

"That's bullsh*t. Put the candidates in front of me so I can make an educated decision. I don't even know what positions you're going against. I wanna see the debate."

"Somebody thought that was a good idea. Who the hell p went and fought everybody, tooth and nails, and won."

"The whole idea is well, you're gonna vote for them anyways cause you're Republican. No sh*t Sherlock, but here's the problem, am I gonna convert 88 others? The answer is no because I'm not excited."

"Is this an entitled Republican Party? What an unattractive approach to take. And the voters should push back, not to the point of going to the Democratic Party, but you need more than that. You need excited voters."

How about we don’t let utilities pass on costs to consumers due to servicing hyperscalers so that the citizens have more resources to invest/save/spend as they see fit?
@RonDeSantis I hate this messaging. Rather than playing to the idiot anti-AI masses, how about we launch a program that teaches people how to buy Nvidia stock so if your electric bill goes slightly up it doesn’t matter because your investment portfolio went up a significantly higher amount?

America can't accommodate everyone who wants to come here.

Millions wait in line and never get in.

So we should only accept people who add to America.

Not people who come to take, not make.

If you want to support the work:

My friend Matt just finished hiking the Pacific Crest Trail—2,653 miles from Mexico to Canada.

I asked him if he had any profound insights from the six-month journey, and he dropped this truth bomb on me:

“On the trail, living is hard—but life is easy.
In normal life, living is
The things that make our lives comfortable also make them complex. Busier. More stressful.

Like a frog being boiled, we slowly accumulate more things, more obligations, and more relationships that need to be maintained (and paid for).

🐸Before we know it… we’re cooked—trapped in a prison of our own design. We’ve made living easy, but life hard.

Here’s the inescapable truth:

Whether you’re a billionaire or broke, everything you own owns a piece of you.

When you do something extreme—like hiking the PCT—it forces a return to simplicity. You realize that less really is more and creature comforts come at a cost.

What I’m talking about here is minimalism—a widely misunderstood concept. Minimalism isn’t about sacrifice and self-denial—it’s about asking of everything in your life:

Does this bring me joy?

Does it make living easier, but life harder?

It’s addition by subtraction: Removing things from your life that don’t bring joy allows you to feast on things that do.

If you feel like you’re living on a hamster wheel—maybe the answer isn’t to run faster…

Maybe it’s time to step off.

“You don’t get to pick a fantasy customer you’d rather serve... Brands are built on loyalty, and if you turn your back on loyal customers, they’ll turn their backs on you.”

@lulumeservey dropping truth bombs as usual
Right move.

Cracker Barrel had made the same mistake as Jaguar. They targeted a nonexistent customer.

They disdained their loyalists (too old, too white, too uncool, and in Jaguar’s case, clearly too male). And they tried to upgrade to a new customer who’s cool and trendy but doesn’t actually exist.

Jaguar targeted what I’ve described as the “vegan barista who wants to roll up to the drum circle in a luxury sports car” demographic (which I thought was 0 people, but to be fair is at least 49 based on sales figures).

Cracker Barrel targeted the kind of person who wants a more sleek, modern dining experience, and for some reason will still go to Cracker Barrel.

The execs at these companies are not unintelligent or inexperienced. They seem to be boomers catching up to the zeitgeist of 2022 and using it as the basis of a “bold campaign” that can land them a panel slot at Cannes Lions.

But the best brands are those that embrace their core audience and foster diehards (Costco, Chick-fil-A, Harley Davidson, etc.).

You don’t get to pick a fantasy customer you’d rather serve. If you don’t respect the customers, just change jobs. Brands are built on loyalty, and if you turn your back on loyal customers, they’ll turn their backs on you.

Good for Cracker Barrel!
