Twitter, do you know what's awesome about today besides the World Series?

The one MLB city and stadium I had somehow never been to was Milwaukee. I'm now 30-for-30! I had a brat.

The lockout is 40 days away. When it comes to a salary cap, everyone at the World Series — commissioner, players, owner, union leader — is saying, well, exactly what you'd expect.

Trevor Megill: "No cap, no floor, it’s not happening.”

Rob Manfred: "It’s easy to say, ‘I’m here and I’m never moving.’ That’s not a particularly skilled approach to the process."

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and union head Bruce Meyer on Friday both made it seem virtually impossible that the sides could reach a status-quo extension of the current CBA to avoid the upcoming lockout. The idea hasn't even been discussed, Meyer said.

Caps are always controversial, if you really think about it.

Many schools forbid wearing them. Good luck talking about the melting ice caps at Thanksgiving. A pen cap? Retractable enthusiasts scoff at your chew toy.

Bottle caps seem nice, sure — until you can't find an opener. Twist-offs? Concert venues confiscate them as weapons.

And a nightcap? That's just a headache.

Always a delight chatting with the one and only @EvanDrellich. Come for the "is a Dodger three-peat really a death knell for baseball labor negotiations?" and stay to learn about Jedi lightsaber form. Luminous beings are we (sorta). Ep: open.spotify.com/episode/1ujavO…
Can a small market team winning the WS really influence how long a potential lockout lasts? With the Dodgers down 0-2, @EvanDrellich joins us to discuss that, the 154-game season proposal and...Kyber crystals. Also, Week 5 brought us a big man long snapper, the return of the NFC least and whatever the opposite of clock management is. Ep: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/epi…

Note that MLB proposing to have the Division Series expand *beginning in 2029* is TV-related timing.

Those additional playoff games — plus the 154-game regular season set-up where Mondays become a national broadcast window — would boost the potential income for MLB.

Because, remember, the new national media deals are set to begin in 2029!

On MLB's proposal for 154 games, re-seeding in the first two rounds of the postseason and an expanded division series.

Like most everything at the bargaining table, the conversation remains stuck on one piece: cap or no cap.

News: MLB sent a 34-page memo to owners and high-ranking officials across the league detailing what to expect — and how to act — during the lockout.

MLB’s official website and club websites will again be scrubbed of player images and videos.

And holiday cards? MLB says clubs shouldn't send them to players after Dec. 2.

MLB is prepping for existential battle. Until then, the Dodgers - the dynasty at the center of the storm - say they’ve got one more in them.

“We can’t really think about that s—. We’ve just got to take care of business, win, and make everybody more mad.”

⚾️ NEWS (w/@EvanDrellich ): Why because of the media rights deals 60 games will be a leverage point during the expected lockout.

Will the owners still be paid their $2B+ in rights even if there are no games?
