It's time for a sale so good it's scary!

That's right!

Indie October is upon us and I want to get as many indie books into the hands of readers as possible.

So you can save over 50% on these anthologies and enjoy 15 fabulous indie voices.

Well. I suppose that's fitting for the season.

I've just done something truly terrifying. I've sent my first draft to someone.

... Okay, so I had made like, two edits. Maybe not a first, first draft.

But something much messier than even my beta readers normally see.

All the minor tweaks on my list of things to edit have been made.

The trouble is ... I now have to do a bunch of rewriting and restructuring tasks.

Mostly because the current draft has no structure.

But these are the bits that make me drag my feet and start new stuff instead.

Loving the fact that my anthologies are often bought through expanded distribution.

I'm hoping that means lots of libraries and bookshops are picking them up.

Though it could just be other retailers. Then again, I somehow doubt that since I've seen retailers charging £30.

It's been at least 5 minutes since I mentioned my books.

Unacceptable. A travesty, really.

Did you know I wrote some books? And published them? And that you can buy them?

I've been waiting to tell you this.

This is the super secret project I've been working on.

It's a resource for indie authors, to help dodge scams, budget wisely and find good freelancers.

Sound like something you'd use?

This just arrived today. I’m looking forward to reading it as soon as I get time!

New blog update! I've really committed to this whole 'post every month' thing.

I don't have much to share this month, so I thought I'd write about my Substack. What it's all about (educating authors) and why I'm doing it.

If I had a pound for every time I suddenly realised that an author I'm following is actually from my home county...

I don't know how many pounds I'd have. I've lost count.

It's kind of cool how often it happens and how many of us there are around here.

I am trying my best not to get distracted from the book that needs editing.

But I decided to clean my house yesterday and unfortunately dusting makes me imagine super-cool lines and scenes for my other book.

Jotting them down and moving on is the only way I'll finish anything.

Heads up: If you see a weird, zero context post from me...

It's entirely possible I just posted like that, but occasionally Twitter/X/The hellscape this is takes my replies and sends them to everyone instead of the thread.

Which makes me look even more insane than normal.

Are Amazon offering 90 free days of Amazon Music with everyone's books? Is this a new sales thing?

Or am I just cool?

Or, alternatively, do they just want rid of my books really badly?

I would sincerely like to offer other authors marketing advice, but I have no clue what I'm doing right.

The last couple months, I have had some spikes.

But as advice goes, 'be patient for six years and it might happen' is pretty lame advice.

Here are the original publication dates of all my books, including the two foreign translations of Thunderlands.
Thanks to bookhype.com/author/show/91… for showing this.

My first book is a classic mystery that centres around a seemingly impossible crime 🧐

I recently updated it to include some exciting new scene and character details 🤩

Aaaand more reviews! The Legacy of Deception is shooting up this week.

Shout-out to @dave_uncensored for taking the time to put his review up on Amazon.

No shout out to Amazon for hiding it from me for 2 whole days. Bad Amazon!

As promised... I screenshotted some of my scam emails.

After all, I spend most of my time on Substack complaining about scammers. Might as well show you why.

These are just from 2 days. Not even a full 48 hours...
