Hi Fly People! We are thinking of upgrading our 33 year old fly food pump to a Gilson GX-281 and we would love to hear from others if this pump works for you? Is it hard to use? To clean? Pros? Cons?
Much Thanks!

Congratulations to Minx Fuller on the presentation of her GSA award for "distinguished service in the field of genetics"! She is as devoted to her lab members as she is to the advancement of genetics, we are all better for having her in the field!

@BrunLabCaulo @goleylab @CauloCon That was a great piece of equipment, it ran for years with hardly any maintenance. The water pump broke a few times, that was it. When we sold it for parts(!) I helped take it apart, it was solid! Now our people have access to one a little more modern.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Dale Kaiser peacefully passed away last Friday. Dale was a creative and original scientist, one of the founders of molecular genetics during the time the field emerged.

Today marks 30 years since the Loma Prieta earthquake, the Beckman Center had just opened a few months before and as an institution we didn't pay as much attention to earthquake safety. We were lucky partly because many rooms were empty! Still . . .

Here an adult mouse pancreas was injected with collagenase to digest the excrete tissue. The pancreatic islets were purified from digested pancreatic tissue by using a gradient centrifugation technique.

Here is an easy way to minimize the mess when you defrost a -80 freezer. The towels act as a wick putting most of the water into the bin. The bins on the inside catch most of the meltwater keeping it out off the floor.
