Marketing Mallet Mayhem '84 has been tough.
I can't tell how much of the low reach is the algorithm and how much is my approach.
I'm trying to find the people who'd enjoy a bit of old-school arcade air hockey. #gamedev

Looking back at the early arcade designs for Mallet Mayhem '84.
These Blender studies from September 11-12 show the cabinet corner growing into a full room around the table.

I learnt a lot about software development making Mallet Mayhem '84.
Reproduce the bug, make a small change, then test it again. Keep a record so you know what worked.
Getting the code to compile is only one part of making a game. #gamedev #solodev

I've built Mallet Mayhem '84 to bring that feeling to PC air hockey. Coming to Steam November 6. Wishlist now!

Getting Mallet Mayhem '84 ready to submit the release build to Steam!
After all the learning, testing and small fixes, reaching this stage feels pretty exciting.
Can't wait to get this air hockey game into more players' hands! #solodev #gamedev

Thinking about "open tables" for Mallet Mayhem '84's online play.
The idea: find a public table with a free spot and join a match, like walking up to one in an arcade.
Still considering it. Would you use open tables, or mostly play with friends? #gamedev #indiegame

YEE HAW, Online play works in closed playtesting! Going to refine the mallet movement, but very close to the end!
Considering whether or not to add public matchmaking as well.

Learning C++ through Mallet Mayhem '84 means learning how Unreal uses it too.
Actors have lifecycles; UPROPERTY can expose C++ values in the editor. Our soundtrack uses it for track data and gain.
Seeing code connect to the game helps it click. #gamedev #indiedev

Steam users on Windows: want to help test online 1v1 in Mallet Mayhem '84, my 3D air hockey game?
I'm looking for a few players for closed playtests to check joining, controls and match flow.

Our first online Mallet Mayhem '84 playtest exposed failed Steam joins, settings resets and an unclear lobby.
The next build has join fixes, settings that save, and named players with ready status.
Local checks pass; a two-PC Steam retest is next. #gamedev #indiegame

For Mallet Mayhem '84, I tracked puck and mallet motion frame by frame.
I used table lengths to compare pace, keeping uncertain dimensions explicit.

Epic's testing guide helped me write focused C++ checks for Mallet Mayhem '84.
I check settings persistence and telemetry failures alongside playtests.

Epic's physics sub-stepping guide helped me reason about Mallet Mayhem '84's puck collisions.
Smaller steps can improve stability at a CPU cost.

I was pretty new to Blender when I started making Mallet Mayhem '84.
I learned by modelling the table one part at a time: rails, cabinet, coin slots.
Here's an early render from that process. #indiegame #solodev
