Posts by @koolkrypto223, @dorong_x and @0xJaehaerys pretty much sum up the @variational_io discussion points worth noting.

I was tempted to chime in, but I think the team has done a great job so far covering many of them.

Honestly, criticism of projects in this space is endless because no model is perfect. There are always trade-offs in design and security that the average user doesn't see.

Taking in public concerns and addressing them will always be part of the team's job, no matter how big the project grows.

Ultimately it's up to each user to understand a project's risk vectors well enough to decide whether to use it, based on their own risk profile.

Healthy discourse about security is imperative in today's climate - zero-day exploits are increasingly common. Projects that acknowledge the risks and address them will thrive, while others fade away with time.

Tasty FUD all around

At least it got more people looking at the docs now

Understanding the risk profile of DeFi protocols should always be the first thing you do before using any apps in the space

The ICE and @tradexyz partnership is truly historical. I think we see many more doors open soon for gated DeFi apps.

@chameleon_jeff and @sershokunin have truly brought the space forward and opened up new gateways for future protocols.

Kudos to them.

I'm not farming points anywhere outside of Variational.

I don't see the point of using a protocol merely for points - most will be worthless anyway.

Volume and OI have dipped slightly, so points should be a bit more generous this week.

I've been using Variational for over a year and will likely keep using it post-points as long as spreads and funding rates stay attractive. Variational Pro will also be a huge unlock for my fund as we can move my Deribit options over.

As most of you know, I tend to make really concentrated bets. Spreading my efforts across various projects just doesn't make sense to me. You can have stakes in lots of protocols, but none of it matters if the stakes are negligible.

Believe in something and have the conviction to stick with it.

Tokenized stocks are where stablecoins were many years ago: lots of issuers, split liquidity, and not much infra built to facilitate flows.

What they need is the same infrastructure stablecoins got:

- A shared bridge plus Curve-style pools, so the same stock from different issuers trades as one market.

- DeFi composability for the major names, so the capital can work as collateral, in LPs and in lending.

- Easy redemption and direct deposits to neobanks. To tap on the growing payments ecosystem.

- Acceptance as collateral for perps, so you can trade on margin for improved capital efficiency.

Stablecoins brought DeFi its first wave.

Tokenized stocks will bring the next one.

$VAR points got easier to farm this week.

This might be one of the last windows for retail to stack cheap points before APIs open the floodgates to systematic traders.

What's coming for Variational:
- Omni public mainnet
- API trading
- Partial fills on orders
- More swaps and TradFi listings
- $VAR TGE
- Public OLP deposits
- Variational Pro launch

Exciting 6 months ahead for Variational users.

Also making solid progress setting up @VortexTrading_ , my fund. The team learned a lot this past week, and things are coming together fast. Optimistic we'll navigate this market well.

LFG.

My Token2049 takeaways this year:

More institutions at side events, mostly focused on tokenization and stablecoin flows

Side event protocols > main event protocols

Perps were the key theme, with social trading and agentic trading platforms getting real discussion

AI had far fewer events this year

Everyone was talking about PRL. Got asked my take at least 5 times

Hyperliquid set the bar for events: well run, with a great mix of veterans and newcomers. Shoutout to @hypurr_co

@variational_io's dinner and @zeroxkyle's hotpot had the best crowds in terms of quality

Trading comps became the main hook for a lot of events, but the crowds felt a bit cringe

VCs are still hungry for deals but struggling to find investable projects

Established KOLs were open to bouncing ideas. Some smaller ones acted like royalty, parading their "TG communities" to projects

Got brushed off by a few BDs who only wanted KOLs

Solid event overall. Looking forward to hosting my own next year.

Cheers.

NGL, @OKXSingapore has really been stepping up its game recently.

Did some OTC on-ramping with them and the process was pretty smooth. It’s a stark contrast to where they were last year.

I used to rely on @coinhako and @StraitsX, but the experience was honestly pretty clunky and painful at times.

With more neobanks and crypto-friendly banking options popping up, I’m hopeful that moving funds in and out of crypto will become increasingly seamless over the coming years.

Now that swaps are live (with more markets being continually listed), our next major project is the Omni trading API.

Until now, all trading on has been through the frontend. Soon, traders will be able to trade programmatically on Omni's 550+ listed TradFi and crypto markets.

Singapore is doing its own Token2049 airdrop — $HAZE.

- No snapshot required
- 100% circulating supply
- Everyone in SG is eligible
- the token is non-transferable and the emissions are insane

RIP Lungs

Still waiting for the larger venues to launch $VAR Pre-TGE perps.

Free the Korean Degens
To global CT, altcoin foundations, builders, and farmers: are you waiting for Korean buying power to return?

Then please spread this message. Korea is recklessly pushing ahead with crypto taxation without putting investor protections in place. This is making Korean investors arket, even during a bull run.

How bad is it? Korea offers no loss deductions. Foreign exchange gains are generally tax exempt, yet buying USDT with KRW and profiting from exchange rate movements would be taxed. Taxation is being pushed through without ensuring fair treatment across assets and markets.

As a result, crypto is currently trading at a discount on Upbit and Bithumb, and the Korean buying power everyone is waiting for is nowhere to be seen.

Waiting for the kimchi power to return? Help amplify this message.

New daily ATH vol for Variational~

Honestly, it's been awhile since I've been excited about a project.

Glad to see the team growing from strength to strength.

I have also been on a look out for a revival of the DeFi ecosystem and the signs are pretty positive so far.

- dily increasing
- RobinHood RWA LP showing decent yield and vol
- Ethena Usde TVL bouncing back up with funding yield going back to 10%

I will be scaling back into DeFi / Crypto and hopefully we will get DeFi Summer once again.

Cheers!
