A polling company called Wedgewood admitted this week that almost all of its polls were made up. It called the whole thing an "experiment." The New York Times had 15 of its polls on its race-tracking pages before pulling them.
The damage was real. Michigan Democrat Mallory od poll in June showing her in single digits helped dry up her donations. She dropped out of the Senate race in July. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is now warning TV stations about airing fake polls.
In the last 10 days of a campaign, polls move money, volunteers and headlines. Before you trust one, ask who ran it and whether they have a track record.

New Hampshire's new law says a student ID isn't valid photo ID to get a ballot. On Thursday the Supreme Court let the state go further for the Nov. 3 election: election workers can be told a student ID isn't even backup proof of who you are. Only Justice Jackson dissented.
The whether the law is fair. They applied a long-standing rule: federal judges generally shouldn't change election rules right before an election. A lower court had stepped in just this month.
Set the rules early, explain them clearly, and leave them alone until the votes are counted. That's not a partisan principle. It's how you get an election both sides trust but it seems only one side is concerned about trust in our elections.

President Trump is increasing America’s refining capacity, which means more affordable fuel for you.
Thursday night in Iowa, President Trump announced he's using the Defense Production Act, a 1950 law that lets a president pay to expand production of things the country needs for its defense, to put up to $150 million into American refineries.
And it proves what we’ve been saying: it’s not an oil problem, it’s a refinery problem, thanks to decades of Democrat policies.
Case in point: America pumped a record amount of oil last year. But our capacity to turn that oil into gasoline and diesel actually shrank, as two big refineries closed.
Oil in the ground doesn't fill your tank. Refineries do.
The money comes from $1 billion Congress already set aside, and the Energy Department says the projects haven't been picked yet.
Once again, President Trump is laser focused on bringing down energy prices, Democrats will not solve this problem. They will only make it worse.
