The outcomes are consistent with what we have learned from other studies: GLP-1 (+ GIP) agonists are poised to become a key therapy for HFpEF. Their role in HFrEF, however, needs further definition. #obesity #HeartFailure #Mounjaro

I love the flexibility Zoom has brought us but I cannot deny that my attention is fundamentally better at an in-person meeting or lecture.

Advocating for our patients does not always mean pushing for the most aggressive option - it means pushing for the best option.

1. In the US, consumption of sugar sweetened beverages (SSB) has been on the decline. SSB are associated with obesity, diabetes, and a host of CV diseases. “Diet” or “sugar-free” beverages with non-nutritive sweeteners have served as alternatives to sugar.

8. Problems:
Does not establish causation, only association.
Lack of data on types of ASBs.
Recall bias regarding consumption.
Beverage data collected over 24 hour period and extrapolated to full week.
Only 6-7% of participants in UK study drank > 2L/weekly ASBs.

9. Bottom Line: avoid sugary sweetened beverages and minimize exposure to artificially sweetened beverages. Stick with natural foods and beverages. Water is always the best hydration option!

I’m curious - For those that do RHC, do you measure mid axillary line with a caliper? Put the transducer on a fixed pole? Just move the transducer as you see fit on the bed?
