Everyone's scared of the wrong AI monster. 🧛

Robots are cheaper than people for 0.3% of work (Anthropic). Only 21% of orgs track their AI agents in real time.

The scary part isn't the machine. It's not understanding it.

So 50% off DataCamp is back from the dead 👻

Every office had one: the VLOOKUP person. Now Claude writes that formula in seconds.

The real value wasn’t knowing the formula; it was knowing when the number was wrong.

Your judgment is the value. AI makes it worth more, not less.

Data scientist down 50%. AI engineering up 4x. Coding didn’t budge.

Since late 2023, we’ve asked 90K+ DataCamp learners the same question: what role are you aiming for?

The share aiming to be data scientists has halved. AI engineering has quadrupled.

People chasing AI jobs group we track. 71% of the courses they start involve code, against 68% for aspiring data scientists, 61% for data engineers, and 51% for data analysts.

Fewer people aiming at data science doesn’t mean the analysis work has disappeared. Agentic AI put data-driven decision-making within reach of people who aren’t data scientists, so the work was spread out rather than cut. It still happens. It’s just no longer one team’s job.

👉 And the code holds for a simple reason: to build with AI tools, you need to understand what they produce. You can’t fix code you can’t read.

Universities are seeing the same shift. New computer-science majors in the US fell 13% in a year. UK computing acceptances dropped 9%, the first fall in seven years, while AI course acceptances rose 39%.

Students aren’t leaving technical work. They’re moving toward AI.
