nice rack indeed
.@NVIDIAGTC Berlin: As a consumer and tech advocate who dabbles in AI tools and every type of computer I can get my hands on, it was the closest I could get to Comiccon-style experience.

I mean, look at that rack 👀

Italy is on the right path on housing.

Instead of rent caps, Rome’s 2027 budget cuts the tax on long-term lets from 10% to 5%, and to 1% for tenants under 35. More homes for rent, not fewer.

A study of more than 1.3 million discharges from 343 hospitals found bargaining power explains more of the price gap than local concentration. The FTC is still chasing size. @EmilPanzaru in @RealClearHealth

Utah filed 14 criminal charges against Kalshi and its founders over 12 sports contracts an undercover investigator bought for $114. The CFTC had sued Utah the day before. @YaelOss wrote for CCC consumerchoicecenter.org/utahs-felony-c…

.@YaelOss: "Utah can set whatever gambling laws it wants, but charging two prediction market founders with felonies over $114 in trades placed by the state’s own undercover agent isn’t law enforcement, it’s prohibition by indictment and an outrage."

CMS finalizes its Medicare negotiation rule this fall. If one price covers a drug and its better version, the next better version gets harder to fund. @FredCyrusRoeder on the loop:

Everyone’s talking about making AI safe. Almost nobody’s asking who’s paying for that conversation.

In AI, the people warning you to be afraid are the same people profiting from the rules. 🧵

The same donors funding the AI safety movement also back the biggest labs, the ones who can afford the rules that lock everyone else out. Fund the fear, bankroll the giants.

The rules don’t stop AI. They just shut out open-source and the small startups, the tools that let people ms.

So let’s be honest. The same money warns you about AI and sits on both sides of the rules.

Fund the fear, invest in the giants who can afford the regulation. That’s not a conflict by accident. Open-source AI is the first to go.

@YaelOss and @davidclement followed the money. What they found connects your AI tools to a 175-year-old alcohol temperance group, and it’s all one machine.

There’s a lot more in the report that’ll surprise you! Take a look:

New dosing work, new production lines, new safety testing. That is what an injectable upgrade costs before FDA approval. Under @CMSGov proposal, it would share the original drug’s Medicare price. Fewer upgrades break even. @FredCyrusRoeder consumerchoicecenter.org/a-cms-rule-tha…

What do higher alcohol taxes and AI regulation have in common?

The same people are paying for both. And once you see who, you can’t unsee it 🧵

From pints to AI prompts, it’s one machine with two products.

Fund the research, call it neutral science, turn it into law. You pay at the checkout.

And open-source AI is next on the list.
