@DWCoachK In 2004 we were 5-4 barely making it into the playoffs. Went scorched earth and brought home the state championship. Teams hitting thier stride at the right time can be very dangerous .

Losing to a top 15 5A team should count for something if we’re counting losses.
Tempe football goes 8-2. Did the Buffaloes do enough to make the 4A playoffs? They came into Thursday's game rated No. 29, lost a game to the wire to No. 18 Marcos de Niza (8-2). Only other loss early in year to 5A Chaparral (rated 13 in 5A).

I want to get something off my chest: I don't care what the playoff formula says—I believe Tempe deserves a spot in the 4A playoffs. Their game against MDN proved they can compete with anyone, so seeing them ranked outside the top 24 doesn’t sit right with me. They played their tails off this season and deserve a top-24 spot.
If anyone still thinks Tempe isn't the playoff-caliber team, I don't know what more I can tell you. Just watch the game and decide whether or not they should be in.

There was a lot of questions about if Tempe was a playoff football going into tonight despite their 8-1 record (8-0 in 4A). A 9.2 SOS rating (3rd worst in 4A) was the reason why. The Buffs took #18 Marcos De Niza to the brink in one of the best games of the season. I don’t care what the formula says on Saturday morning, Tempe proved tonight that they are a playoff football team despite the loss. Hats off to Coach Freeman and his staff turning a program that struggled to win a single game into a playoff-caliber squad.

I know it doesn’t eliminate the pain of tonite.. But things are changing at Tempe.. Over the last few years I’ve watched Coach Freeman build this thing VERY patiently and methodically.. The culture, the coaches, teaching the kids how to compete, teaching the kids how to win, and a variety of other things..
I do think that Tempe at 8-2 belongs in the playoffs.. And I know I’m not the only one buying stock in the #TempeTurnaround

Only reason seton is where they are is they have been good at covering the spread as an underdog 😅 outside of the Ben frank game. But maybe the computer had the spread at -74.5 in which case they were close
