Prayers & thoughts to Jimmy & Family. Please help if you can!
Thank you!
Thank you!
This is a difficult message to share…
@jimmynicholsjr5, a former player at @PCFriarsmbb, @VCU_Hoops & @CoastalMBB, has been fighting for his life in Uruguay, where he was playing professionally.
Jimmy has undergone several emergency operations and remains in critical condition undecare.
Over the weekend, doctors warned us to prepare for the worst.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of @votetimscott’s office, Jimmy’s parents were able to urgently travel to Uruguay to be by their son’s side. Since their arrival, Jimmy’s outlook has improved greatly.
But Jimmy still has a long fight ahead of him — and he and his family need our help.
The unforeseen medical, travel and related expenses are staggering. Any contribution, no matter the amount, can make a meaningful difference as his family focuses on Jimmy’s recovery and ultimately bringing him home.
First and foremost, the Nichols family asks for your prayers. Please pray for Jimmy, his strength, his healing, and everyone caring for him.
If you are able to contribute, please consider helping. If you cannot, sharing this message can make a difference too.
Jimmy is fighting. His family is beside him. Let’s make sure they know the basketball community is behind them.
🙏 Pray for Jimmy.

Appreciation. Young people are awesome.
My friend sent me these photos taken exiting my mom’s funeral. She said,“When I walked out of church on Friday, my heart missed a beat! I was quickly overcome with emotion seeing Mike’s team waiting to pay their respects to your mom.”That’s what Mike does- creates family. 💙🤍

Norway's youth sports model is super unique:
• No scorekeeping until age 13
• Participation trophies for everyone
• No travel teams or national championships
• No online publishing of scores or athlete rankings
• Parents typically spend less than $1,000 per child per year
ticipation rate — 40 points higher than the U.S. — and more Winter Olympic medals than any other country in history, despite Norway having a population comparable to the Philadelphia metro area (5.6 million).
And it's not just winter sports...
Norway now produces some of the world’s best summer sport athletes, including Erling Haaland (soccer), Casper Ruud (tennis), Viktor Hovland (golf), and Jakob Ingebrigtsen (track and field).
So if you want to learn more about how Norway's youth sports system actually works (and what other countries can learn from it), here's an essay I recently wrote during the Winter Olympics that breaks it all down.
