What in the world just happened? Why were all the fish dead? Here’s a short thread as to how our latest paper, the last of my PhD at @yale_eeb, came to be by starting at the beginning.

My colleague, themccleerylab.org, and I are hiring at @UF: a postdoc/project manager, a field research lead (M.S. or Ph.D.), and 3 field technicians to track threatened beach mice with automated telemetry during rocket launches at Cape Canaveral 🚀🐭 ufduttonlab.github.io/beach-mouse-jo…

our goal as a science robotics company is simple: deploy as many robots as quickly as possible into the real world to do valuable science.

one of the first pieces of advice @daltonc gave us during YC last year was to bet on models getting better.
that was a very good bet.

today, we’re starting to see the payoff with code-as-policy for robots.

if you want a robot in your lab, or want to work on deploying robots into labs, reach out.

We have found it much more useful to treat the LLM as a programmer operating inside a robotics system, rather than as the robotics system itself.

Dinner and movie night at camp with our friends. Hilarious watching #TheSheepDetectives with our local friends who actually have sheep.

Nothing better than @AmandaSubalusky submitting paper revisions shortly after cooking lunch in our camp and being greeted by warthogs.
