Thank you to the organizing committee for an amazing #ESBiomech2023 experience, full of inspiring science! Incredibly honoured to receive the Student Award, shared with @SatanikMukherj2, and congratulations to @BregjeDeWildt on being runner up for the Best Doctoral Thesis Award!
Really enjoyed #ESBiomech2023! Great to chair the biomaterial sessions with @GwendolenReilly, present PhD work and to see all my former TU/e colleagues. Proud to be runner up for the best doctoral thesis award and so happy for @_franciscomcm for taking home the student award! 🤩

Exciting news from #ECTS2023 - an innovative micro multi-physics model by @CharlesTLedoux @osteocollins @eth_bone that includes sclerostin dependent RANKL production - and it can replicate the effect of Romosozumab seen in clinical trials!

The most recent paper from the Bone Microarchitecture International Consortium (BoMIC) is out! We used HR-pQCT and unsupervised machine learning to identify phenotypes of bone in older adults, and from this found that bone fragility can manifest in different forms.
Findings from a new #JBMR study suggest that osteoporotic fracture risk is associated with bone phenotypes that capture key features of bone deterioration that are not distinguishable by aBMD #ASBMR @d_whittier @hannan_marian @skhosla78 @MaryBouxsein ow.ly/1Lu350IyGil

Optimizing Barium Titanate Nanocomposite Bone Scaffolds for Biomineralization in Dynamic Compression Bioreactors Using Time-Lapsed Microstructural Imaging and Smart Thresholding by @compagOs @eth_bone. Have a look!
It’s out doi.org/10.3389/fmats.…. The first experiments gave me quite some headache because the barium titanate nanocomposites were so strongly X-Ray absorbing, making it really difficult to detect the formed mineral. Lot’s of expertise from the @eth_bone group was needed.
