Humanoids Summit organizer Modar Alaoui has spilled the beans on Tesla's secret Optimus plans in an interview with The San Francisco Standard.
What he says Tesla told him: Optimus reservations will be timed to launch with his summit (Dec 1-2), or in the days right after. Tesla event this year and plans to demo the Optimus V3 and showcase its self-driving cars there.
What Alaoui expects on top of that: consumer reservations open in early December (a first for the public), the first shipment being the V3 since the prior gen was mainly a prototype, and most robots going to companies with only a small number set aside for consumers, at an expected $20,000+.

A kangaroo grabbed a dog in a headlock. Then a robot ran straight at it and put its fists up.
The kangaroo has the dog locked in its arms. The robot runs in, the dog breaks free and bolts, and the kangaroo stands up tall to fight. The robot squares up like a boxer. Fists up, re at each other.
And then nothing happens. The kangaroo calms down and the robot ends up standing right next to it like they're old friends.
A big male red kangaroo can weigh up to about 200 pounds, and it fights by kicking with both back legs. A person who gets that close is risking a trip to the hospital. A robot just risks a dent.
Now think about where that goes. Robots that walk into the fight so nobody else has to. Wildlife rescue. Farms with dangerous animals. Any place where a person would get hurt first.

NEW ROBOTICS STARTUP: China now has its OpenAI for robotics!
Archon Robotics is a Shanghai embodied-AI startup building what it calls a Whole-Body Intelligence framework, a generalist humanoid foundation model assembled from three pieces:
1. pretraining on large-scale human to establish interaction priors
2. a context-aware behavioral foundation model aimed at "precise, stable loco-manipulation with terrain interaction"
3. an efficient post-training on real-robot data to turn those priors into deployable skills.
Its stated ambition is to be the OpenAI for Humanoid Robotics in China!
The founding team comes out of end-to-end autonomous driving: Hongyang Li is Founder and CRO, an assistant professor at HKU, who led UniAD and holds a 2026 RSS Early Career Spotlight; Tianyu Li is co-founder and CEO, previously a core architect of Huawei's ADS 4.0; Li Chen is co-founder and Head of AI and was UniAD's first author.
The company has raised a seed round of hundreds of millions of yuan from ZhenFund, Gaorong Capital, IDG Capital, 5Y Capital, Gobi Partners, a Gobi and HKU joint fund, MiraclePlus and the Shanghai Zhiyuan Academy.
Also worth mentioning: the team is behind the CVPR 2023's Best Paper for arguing that perception, prediction and planning should be one differentiable stack optimized for the driving objective rather than a chain of hand-specified modules.
Their framing of Whole-Body Intelligence, one foundation model that moves, perceives, reasons and acts, is the same argument with a different embodiment, which is the opposite bet made by many research approaches lately.
