@Kidsdoc1Rick I quite honestly learned to say it to the cadence of the muppet ‘mahna mahna’ song.

Successful surgery.

My laptop is about six years old and the battery was nearly toast, but it’s a great laptop and equivalent replacements were ~$1400.

$132 and five minutes of work to replace the battery. Problem solved.

@ROBlNDANGER Well I bought the red and black ones for my fairy ball outfit but don’t think I can work them into my daily wear. The other pair I have in black (from Timberland) and wear them often. They’re very comfortable.

I record myself practicing so that I can see/viciously criticize what I need to work on (everything.) Like how surgeons record their surgeries, but with a sword.

Yesterday I was trying out my new gloves with my longsword and forgot to account for my horrible spatial awareness.

Took my kid to his first Pride street party.

Kade is not exceptionally social (& no one really wants to party with their mom…) but he got to enjoy the vibe and now we’re having late night pizza.

I had a really crappy day so needed something to get me out of a funk. This helps.

Final sour cherry pick for this year. There’s still probably 2lb on the tree but we’re leaving them for the birds.

Total for this year’s cherry yield is 27lb sweet cherries, 15lbs sour cherries.

And now to process….

Want to share this cool event happening tomorrow. I went last year and had a great time. Victoria is a great teacher and the wonderful thing about Latin social dance is you can come alone, meet new people, and get to just enjoy the music together. It is an amazing atmosphere.

My medical Spanish class starts next weekend and I thought I’d share it if anyone else is interested.

Getting to a reasonable degree of comfort with Spanish has become my newest goal so I figured I should have some formal training if I’m going to use it with patients.

TeamPEI ready to fight in the NFA Classic in Nova Scotia.

Louisa and Rafael are fighting in open broadsword. I’m in URG Broadsword only, so won’t fight them.

The head judges are very proper today.

Looking forward to a great day of fighting.

Best way to pick the high cherries is to climb the tree.

These ones aren’t fully ripe yet and will be fairly tart but they are still quite yummy and fun to snack on.

Emergency medicine asks 3 questions:

-Is this patient stable & if not how do I fix that?
-What initial treatment and investigation will change ED management?
-Where does this patient go next?

Unfortunately the ED is being asked to do so much more & patients wait because of it.

This sums it up pretty well, yeah.

We are expected to address the effects of things we have no ability to change, and it seems like collegiality is wavering far too often these days. It is very tiring. And it does not need to be this way.

Happy Canada Day!.

I’m exhausted from a night shift so here is a little bit of our calm celebration today. Beautiful land on a glorious day, kids enjoying the outdoors, and the first ripe strawberry from our gardens.

This is peace, and freedom, and joy.

Stay safe today.

My language exchange group went to a Spanish comedy show in Charlottetown last night. Stephan Dyer, Juan Cajiao, and two others whose names escape me at the moment. It was awesome.

Was cool to see how good my Spanish comprehension is now. I followed along without missing much.

Have an appointment in to before our medical society’s AGM so just enough time to enjoy lunch at Gahan House.

We have a male ruby throated hummingbird who does not appear to have chicks or a mate. He just sits in the bush nearest the feeder and chases off the other birds.

We’ve decided to name him Spite because he just glares at everyone.

A glorious evening on the Island to do some gardening and have some fun.

Rhys has taken an interest in soccer (as I did at his age) so we’re planning to watch the World Cup together. Canada’s first game is Friday and Jedi is getting into the spirit too.

I’m post night shift so even though I summoned the energy to make birria, somehow the effort of making corn tortillas felt like too much so I used mini flour tortillas I had on hand to make quesabirria.

Still incredibly yummy but I feel like I betrayed my recipe…

Had an impromptu fight afternoon at Victoria Park and Rhys came along. He took some videos and photos, most of which are all of us at weird angles.

But this is what I look like in (most of) my fight gear. That’s my Sigi longsword.

This little guy is curious about me but has relaxed enough I can get pictures of him while he’s perched. We have a ton of hummingbirds but many are uncomfortable perching to eat if I’m near the feeder.

I had my phone less than a foot from this guy.

My friend Andrea was one of the organizers of the Fae Ball and asked if we could do a sword fighting demo.

Because what’s a fantasy story without some swords?

Rafael (MSS Ch’town head coach) and I got to get all dressed up and put on a show.

Had an absolute blast.
