Day 4 of #Mikesgiving. I think you already know this, because I've told you so many times before, but I've never known a life without you in it, without your music or your short films being a part of it.
So today, I want to thank you because, without you ever knowing it, you’ve gh some of the happiest moments of my life, but also through the hardest ones. When I felt the loneliest, the saddest, when I couldn’t see a reason to keep going. Through your music, your philosophy on life, or sometimes simply through a sign that you’re with me, you’ve always found a way to bring a little light and happiness back into my life.
Thank you for being such a constant presence in my life. Thank you for making me feel less alone, day after day. And just as you once said, I want you to know that wherever you may be, I’ll look up and see, someone in the dark for me.

The Day “Stranger in Moscow” Was Born
September 15, 1993. Michael Jackson’s Moscow concert was turning into a disaster.
This was during the allegations period. Despite everything he was going through, Michael was warmly welcomed in Moscow. During his stay, he also visited an e with the children.
But concert day brought one obstacle after another. According to promoter Samvel Gasparov, ticket sales were being sabotaged, rumors were spreading, and then came a drug report followed by a bomb threat. Police searched the stadium twice. Meanwhile, heavy rain poured down, and announcements in the streets and metro stations told people the concert had been canceled and to go home.
With the stadium nearly empty and everything seemingly lost, Gasparov was approached by a desperate mother carrying her daughter’s drawing of Michael. The little girl was almost blind from birth, with only 4% vision in one eye. Her mother hoped Michael’s autograph might somehow help her regain her sight. Gasparov took the drawing to Michael. And everything changed.
“I didn’t know my signature cost that much… I will perform. Just get people in there, please. I can’t sing to an empty stadium. And we’ll need a lot of towels to wipe the stage.”
Michael went on to perform that night.
And later that same day, back in his hotel room in Moscow, Stranger in Moscow began to take shape.
Years later, Michael recalled what was going on inside him:
“Stranger in Moscow was written when I was in Moscow on the Dangerous Tour, and it was just a strange, eerie, lonely time for me. Outside my hotel was just a sea of faces of fans, chanting and screaming, but I was inside my room and I felt like a stranger in Moscow, so all alone, like I was the last person on the planet. And in the song I say, ‘How does it feel when you’re all alone, you’re cold inside?’ I say, ‘It’s like a stranger in Moscow.’ That’s pretty much how I felt. And the people were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. And the concert was very successful, but that day, especially that day, I just felt this different feeling and the song ‘Stranger in Moscow’ just came to me. And that’s how it was written.”
And that feeling found its way into the music. Michael called Brad Buxer to work on something, and Brad, expecting to work on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, instead found himself helping Michael bring Stranger in Moscow to life. Within an hour and a half, the song had taken shape.
And we got this masterpiece.

30 years ago Stranger in Moscow was released in UK. Stranger in Moscow was written by Michael in his hotel room as he was in inspired by his own lonliness despite the thousands of fans waiting outside for him.
This song will always have a special place in my heart, it’s that you listen to it it just makes you think about life. I love to listen to it when it’s raining and I have my headphones on. Such a personal and vulnerable song!
