PC Emulator vs. SNES S-Video via Sony PVM-20L2MD
I know we've been looking at a lot of portraits and S-Video this week, but I just grant me one more!

@CRTpixels I literally just saved this exact monitor from recycling at my work yesterday and it's my favorite thing I own:

@CRTpixels Why don't indie games with pixel graphics copy crt screens more?

@Lickaghost I think the most obvious answer is that those games aren't designed for CRT screens so it wouldn't have the same effect. I do see some that have great CRT filters though. Blazing Chrome and Sonic Mania are two of my favorites.

@CRTpixels I think there's a certain aesthetic to both images.

@CRTpixels Need scanline filter plastic or simulated one that understand person's head position. Similar to LookingGlass.

@CRTpixels @VagrantPixels Most of these comparisons don't seem very different to me, but this one is pretty stark!

@CRTpixels I always love seeing the pixelated shading turning into something a lot more realistic.

@CRTpixels Haha. I grew up playing it on emulator. So, the 'smoothed' out one always looks weird to me, but it's interesting cause it's how it was obviously meant to be viewed.

@CRTpixels I'm a pure pixel man but that CRT presentation is superb, the smoothness that adds on the skin shading, the whole analogic feel that gives instead of a low res macro pixel image impression... Dammit, it could even pass on being confused as an anime frame displayed on a CRT.
