When you stop reading books, you start losing verbal dexterity, depth of thought and imagination. A closed book is a closed mind. Don't EVER stop reading.

Me: I really need to stop buying books until I’ve read the ones I own.
Also me when someone mentions a book i’ve never heard of: adding to cart.

@Briellefine The honest answer is always the book you bought twice because a friend "borrowed" the first one and moved to another country. Mine would be a very long list and a very sad shelf 😄📚

Give me a book recommendation based on nothing except the fact that you haven’t stopped thinking about it since you finished it.

non-readers will never understand the feeling of reading a line so beautiful that you have to put the book down for a moment, smile to yourself and just let it sink in. 🥹

I’m DNFing Emma by Jane Austen. Classics are hard to read.
The book put me in a reading slump and my disciplined self wants to finish the book but I can’t.
So I’m permitting myself to pick up the next book on my shelf. Peace. ✌️📚

If you’re not enjoying a book, just close it and move on. I don’t care if it’s a classic or if everyone else loved it. A book literally has one job. It has to be interesting. If it isn’t, don’t feel guilty about not finishing it.

books have a way of making you homesick for a place you've never been.

There are two types of books: ones that i have to force myself to read, and ones that i have to force myself to stop.

I want more stories about women who are figuring it out. Women who change their minds, start over, make mistakes, fall in love, lose themselves and find their way back.

Being a reader is not just about knowing the plots of hundreds of books. It’s about developing the patience to understand an idea, the curiosity to question it and the humility to change your mind.
