My PhD thesis is finished! It's all about making reinforcement learning agents more adaptive to changes in their environment. Here's the audio summary by NotebookLM.

I was encouraged this week to see the leaders of the frontier labs agree on the need for them to slow down the pace of AI development. Given the stakes, itβs a good and necessary first step.
Β
But Iβm even more encouraged by the growing recognition that how this powerful new technology develops should be at the center of our public debate.
Β
Iβve been watching the progress on AI for over a decade now, and one thing thatβs clear to me is that the potential impact of this technology is not overhyped. Itβs also moving at lightning speed β and even faster than those who are engineering it can keep up with.
Β
Iβm not an AI accelerationist who believes it will lead to some techno-utopia, and Iβm not a doomer who thinks it will inevitably lead to humanityβs destruction.
But whether this technology results in amazing breakthroughs in medicine, energy and education or unleashes huge economic disruptions, greater inequality, and potential catastrophe will depend on the choices that we make right now β choices that should be made not just by the companies involved, but by all of us.

We created an @factoriogame like GPU accelerated RL simulation environment called Factoriax. We released it today, link below :).

For a long time, the limits of AI deployment were only defined by technical capabilities. But as AI continues to make rapid progress, it needs to become a deliberate, collective choice about what kind of world we want to shape.

In the past few months, I enjoyed supervising a group of Honors Academy students who designed their own "roomba-with-arm" using the SO-ARM101 and the @LeRobotHF codebase.

If leading AI companies are indeed approaching the point of recursive self-improvement, a coordinated, verifiable, and universally applied pause is probably the only responsible solution to mitigate several major AI risks; at least until safety guarantees are developed and demonstrated. Ensuring that such a moratorium is respected would require sincere collaboration between various countries and companies, but I definitely believe it is achievable if others follow in @AnthropicAI's footsteps.
Anthropic is calling for top AI labs to weigh slowing the pace of development, suggesting that AI systems are advancing so rapidly that they may soon be able to improve themselves without human intervention in ways that could pose societal risks. on.wsj.com/4ulkmFh

I've written a quick blog post on VLA papers that were presented at AAAI a few weeks ago:

We organized an RL competition during the first Openmind Research Institute Winter School in Malaysia. The participants were able to implement SARSA and SAC in just 2 days onboard our Embodied MuJoCo Ant! π
