Anthropic is has been on a deal spree to secure enough compute:
- Spending hundreds of billions on Microsoft, Amazon, Google and SpaceX
- Partnering w/ former crypto miners to build new data centers
- Meeting with developers to source land and power
- And even exploring converting old coal plants & factories into data centers
All together, those deals add up to more than $895B through 2045.

The text of the memo reads, in part:
"Team -
Today, we are making staffing reductions that affect 195 people across our offices. HR and business leaders have scheduled 1:1 meetings with those who are impacted and we are committed to a smooth transition. We are grateful to those leaving the company for their contributions.
The rapid changes in media are evident to us all, and require us to be constantly changing as well. We have significantly increased investments in a host of new projects as we continue to align the company with our biggest opportunities. The vast majority of those affected today are in our print and legacy web businesses, as we continue to evolve for a prosperous future.
We remain optimistic about our businesses and confident in our plans. We've added 320 new employees so far in 2026, expanding our talent and capabilities across the company..."
