First, @AlyssaHudson83 observed the localisation of the TG11 antibody on germiating spores of Rhizopus arrhizus, one of the most common causes of #mucormycosis. The antibody did not bind inert spores, but did bind strongly to growing hyphae. bit.ly/4eG3lyz

Diagnosis of #mucormycosis is frequently based on radiography, CT, biopsy and histology, as in this 2023 clinical report from Choudhary et al., (rdcu.be/dWYmW) showing Periodic Acid Schiff staining of aseptate hyphae that can be challenging to accurately identify.

@thecopperdoctor @Prokaryota @hgupta84 @AcademicChatter So glad this is not just me. I frequently go home congratulating myself on answering all the emails and doing all the paperwork and only realizing I forgot to inoculate as my head hits the pillow.

Trying to get to my first ISME meeting in time for tonight’s outreach event and its not going so well. At least the curly haired two year old screaming her heart out as we sit on the runway is channeling my frustration #ISME18
