We got your back, New York!
Community note
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026).

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.

🌪️ Tornado Like Damage 🌀

#Isaias caused significant damage to trees, buildings, and trailers in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The scenes look like something you'd see in the aftermath of a tornado. #FLwx

🌀 Isaias “Sting Jet” 🛩️
Notice the strongest winds💨 were way west of the eye wall? That’s because the storm ingested a narrow and violent jet stream from high above on the storm’s west side and that rapidly descended to the ground. The models advertised it well, but still sts dozens of miles west of the core was odd even for us meteorologists. This image is from NOAA Satellites, it called SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar)
It measures the roughness of the water and then translates that into wind. The purple is 80 knots, the white is 100 knots +
Bottom line: every storm has its own character and impacts! #hurricane #isaias #pensacola #Florida
H/T to @MatthewCappucci and the others who identified this before landfall.

Here's a preliminary look at peak wind gusts observed in association with the landfall of Hurricane #Isaias on Friday night. Multiple gusts topping 100 mph were recorded from Santa Rosa Island through the Pensacola area and northward.

You might note that the strongest winds were track -- not what we typically expect. This appears to be associated with the formation of something meteorologists refer to as a 'sting jet.' Isaias was in the process of transitioning from a tropical low to an extratropical low at landfall, and these sting jets are often associated with extratropical systems.

If you rode the storm out in the Panhandle and have any updates and/or pictures, please share them here. Wishing the best for everyone over there as the recovery process gets underway. @WAFB
