@ginandfred @BBCPolitics @BBCNews I’m saying you may have misheard or misremembered. Maybe that was it? youtu.be/iMLlUWPMoog

An' downa be disputed.
The whole coverage of this “story”underlines the importance of the first headline - Telegraph said he “praised” Thatcher because it fits their agenda and they knew it would cause trouble. If you read the words he praised her in the same way as I “praise” Blackburn Rovers1/3

Petroineos has removed the erroneous claim from its website. The company now says its most recent estimate (2020) is that Grangemouth is responsible for 1.1 per cent of Scottish GDP not four per cent as it originally claimed.
Yesterday we quoted a claim made on the Petroineos website (which we attributed to Petroineos as a claim rather than reporting as a fact) that the Grangemouth refinery is responsible for 4% of Scotland’s GDP. The respected Fraser of Allander Institute says that’s not accurate. ⬇️

Scotland’s relative position has improved, “with by far the lowest increase since 2019,” says @jrf_uk, adding; “This may indicate the protective effect of devolved policies such as the Scottish Child Payment, Scottish Welfare Fund and the mitigation of some cuts to benefits.”
