Well, it works! You can ZK-prove Ethereum finality natively on Liquid to create a trustless two-way bridge. No multisig. No oracle. Just ZK and smart contracts.

Ethereum -> Liquid:

We are using the SP1-helios project as a base to prove Ethereum's sync committee aggregate BLS signature and put it in a Groth16 proof.

Custom Simplicity-based verifier verifies the proof and transitions Ethereum's state on Liquid.

Bridge is a Liquid's reissuance token covenant that allows minting the funds if one can prove a specific transaction happened within the current recorded state.

It also nullifies submitted transactions to prevent double-minting.

Liquid -> Ethereum:

The same principles apply here, except that no ZK proof is needed since all Liquid blocks are federation-signed.

1. Implement a smart contract in a most simple way possible.
2. Ask Claude to optimize the hell out of it.
3. Formally verify their equivalence.
4. Win?

Just saying, Simplicity is formally verified. So are its 450 of 533 jets (verification ongoing). Developing Simplicity-based smart contracts, at least you can be sure that the core is secure.

The ZK bridge works, but with one quirk. SP1 proof generation takes ~6 mins on M5 max. Polishing up the UX and sharing a demo soon.

Liquid Network Restoration Update

With key technical milestones completed and network operations stable, user swap functionality is now restored with semi-automated swaps for Federation members. Normal peg and balance validation will be reinstated soon.

We have a pretty good progress natively ZK-proving Ethereum state on Liquid. Claude managed to optimize the crap of a Simplicity EC pairing program, so the sync committee signature aggregation and check now fits in the transaction. Next stop is a trustless bridge.
