Press Release:

Purnima Nath Withdraws Support from Donald Trump and Trump-Endorsed Candidates, Citing Constitutional Accountability and Human Dignity; Announces Suspension of #HindusAndTrump Initiative

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — November 2, 2026 — Purnima community advocate, international relations strategist and geopolitical analyst, today announced that she no longer supports Donald Trump or Trump-endorsed, Trump-aligned or Trump-affiliated candidates. Nath also announced that she is suspending the #HindusAndTrump initiative, which she founded.

Nath’s decision follows more than a decade of supporting Trump, campaigning for him and encouraging others to support him. She describes her withdrawal of support as the culmination of concerns about Trump’s conduct, policies, use of presidential power and disregard for accountability, as well as the direction of the Republican Party, the treatment of non-whites and the fate of non-Christian immigrants.

“I voted for Trump three times. I campaigned for him and encouraged others to support him. I own that. I helped give him power. But my conscience and my commitment to public service no longer align with the current direction of his politics, the regime’s rhetoric, the direction of the Republican Party or the deepening division in our country. I trusted them, and that trust was never permission to abandon the principles we expected them to uphold.”

Still a centre-right Lincoln Republican

Nath emphasised that her political identity remains rooted in centre-right conservatism and Lincoln Republicanism. For her, that tradition is not merely about limited government and individual liberty. It is also about civil rights, equal justice, human dignity and national unity.

She remains committed to the Constitution, the rule of law, individual liberty, limited government and the principle that government must serve the people. The Constitution’s system of checks and balances exists to prevent the abuse and concentration of power, regardless of which party holds office.

“My political principles do not belong to Donald Trump or any party leader. I will continue promoting conservative policies. My understanding of Lincoln Republicanism has always included civil rights, human dignity and the belief that our country must strive for unity rather than deepen division. I will hold every public official accountable to the Constitution and the people.”

Immigration, Human Dignity and Civil Liberties

Nath said she initially supported Trump because she believed his positions on border protection and America First policies would serve the country and its people. However, she did not anticipate the rapid shift towards the dehumanising and insulting treatment of immigrants, or the portrayal of minority communities as threats.

She pointed to immigration enforcement and political rhetoric that, in her view, increasingly portray immigrants and minority communities as criminals, fraudsters, scammers or even terrorists. She also raised concerns about expanding surveillance and the erosion of civil liberties. Nath emphasised that the enforcement of immigration laws must not become a justification for collective punishment, discrimination or the denial of human dignity.

Foreign Policy, National Sovereignty and American Power

Her concerns extend to foreign policy and the increasingly unilateral use and threat of American military power. She cited the unprovoked US war on Iran, the killing of foreign leaders, the bombing of other countries, the public humiliation and insults directed at global leaders, and threats against other countries, their territories and their civilisations.

Nath questioned the authority of American political leaders to determine the legitimacy of foreign governments, forcibly remove other countries’ leaders, or threaten and use military force against sovereign nations without a legitimate basis under international law.

She warned that treating American power as an entitlement to dictate the political future of other countries undermines national sovereignty, international law and the principles of a rules-based international order. Such actions, she argued, establish dangerous precedents that other powerful nations could also invoke.

She further cited concerns about corruption, conflicts of interest and personal enrichment, and called for transparency and independent scrutiny.

“Policy disagreements are normal in a democracy. Treating people as inferior, or making them feel they do not belong because they are not white, Christian or European, is something else entirely. Human dignity must not depend on political allegiance, and constitutional protections must not depend on who holds power.”

Constitutional Accountability at a Critical Moment

With the November 3 midterm elections taking place tomorrow, Nath said the country faces an important moment for constitutional accountability, the exercise of presidential power, civil rights and the protection of human dignity.

“This is about more than one election, one president or one political party. It is about the principles on which public service and constitutional government must rest. It is about the kind of country we want to be, and whether we can uphold our constitutional principles while respecting the dignity and rights of all people.”

Nath underscored, “Principle over partisanship. Public service over personality. Constitutional accountability over personal loyalty. Human dignity over political allegiance.”
