Today in @Nature, we share our latest paper. We developed an algorithm to predict novel peptides cleaved by proconvertases across all human tissues. Using this method, we identified BRP, a brain-derived anti-obesity peptide.

Amazing work lead by Laetitia! Congrats! Super cool story highlighting a new signaling peptide!
Thrilled to share that my work is out in @Nature. Here, we introduce Peptide Predictor, a tool for identifying new bioactive peptides. Using this method, we discovered BRP, an anti-obesity peptide. Huge thanks to the @SvenssonLab and all our collaborators! nature.com/articles/s4158…

Today in @NatureComms we describe the role of SLC17A1/3 in urine Lac-Phe efflux. The surprisingly insight that unlocked this pathway? Lac-Phe mis-assignment to “1-carboxyethyl phenylalanine” @Metabolon. Congratulations @veronical1411 @Stanford_ChEMH

Here we show that prior to 2022, the metabolite Lac-Phe was mis-annotated in @Metabolon datasets as “1-carboxyethylphenylalanine.” We use this information to identify physiologic urine Lac-Phe transporters. Incredible detective work by @veronical1411 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
