Congrats to Arda and @bobmcgrewai on launching from stealth!

Arda's AI turns product designs into assembly lines that keep up as designs change, so America can build hardware that changes every year.

Altimeter is proud to lead the $160M Series A led by Altimeter partner Apoorv Agrawal (@apoorv03) with @Accel and @KhoslaVentures.
We started Arda in 2025 to speed up American manufacturing. We have spent the last year building with Anduril as our design partner. Today we are launching the company publicly on CNBC and announcing our Series A: $160M at a $1.5B valuation.

Our platform helps manufacturers design and operate manual assembly lines, putting designs into production faster now. Next we'll build automated lines that can be reconfigured as quickly as human workers, letting America make products that now require armies of workers in Asia. x.com/Kr00ney/status…

@AltimeterCap @bobmcgrewai The backing shows confidence in this moment for US manufacturing. We actually looked at the broader context behind this round here. x.com/AGTPinsights/s…
Arda, Bob McGrew's new startup, just launched with a $1.5B valuation. Here's what you need to know.

McGrew was OpenAI's Chief Research Officer. Arda came out of stealth on CNBC today. It builds AI software and agents to speed up assembly line programming and manufacturing McGrew says the product is a user interface and an agent that does for manufacturing engineers what Claude or Cursor does for programmers. Arda turns product designs into assembly lines that keep up as designs change.

The problem is speed. A new product can be learned by a worker in a day, but changing a factory's machines takes three to six months. Arda is built to shrink that gap.

Arda started in 2025 and spent its first year building with Anduril as its design partner. Its software is deployed as part of Anduril's ArsenalOS, its first customer. Co-founder Augustus Odena helped start the company.

Headlines say $230M, but McGrew's own post says the Series A is $160M. That brings total funding to $232M, which includes an earlier seed round.

Altimeter, Accel and Khosla Ventures co-led the Series A. XYZ Venture Capital, 8VC, SV Angel and Felicis also joined. One report lists Founders Fund as an investor too. The lead investor reportedly admitted the price is steep today.

McGrew pitches U.S. manufacturing as a roughly $3T industry. He says robotics is next on Arda's product roadmap, and that automating factories could expand U.S. production and add jobs.

Key numbers:
- Series A: $160M
- Total funding: $232M (reported as $230M)
- Valuation: $1.5B
- Founded: 2025
- Retooling a factory today: 3 to 6 months

Arda is hiring in San Francisco and looking for manufacturing partners.
