The speculation now is whether Flavio Bolsonaro will flee the country to avoid the many many corruption cases chasing him

Basically, Lula’s campaign managed to increase turnout and convince undecided voters that a weak President they don’t like is better than an all-powerful President they don’t like

So, fun fact: my best friend’s hobby is to call elections. I really trust him. He usually gets it right. He just tweeted this:
He visto suficiente: Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva ha sido re-electo como Presidente de Brasil para un cuarto periodo. Parabens.

Every time I live through yet another Brazilian election I can’t but marvel at an electoral system that can count 120 million votes in a single evening. Take a bow, Brazil

If Lula wins, remember he will have won overcoming a very clear and organised campaign of voter suppression…

Hilarious how he has to discretely tell his audience (who would not be able to point to Brasilia on a map if they tried a thousand times) that *yes* that guy in the picture *is* then president of the 5th largest country on Earth - bc of course they don’t know…

She’s sharing a decision signed by Kassio Nunes Marques, who was appointed by Jair Bolsonaro and has ties to Daniel Vorcaro and Banco Master, who are embroiled in a money laundering scandal with… you guessed it: Flavio Bolsonaro.

If you know nothing about something stay quiet
This will be my only comment regarding the Brazilian election:
There isn’t a single law they wouldn’t twist in their favour
Changing electoral rules in the middle of an election, in defiance of electoral law and the principle of equal treatment, is *unconstitutional*

Twitter used to be the place to go for breaking news anywhere in the world. Now it’s just a propaganda machine for whoever is on the fascist side of the news. In this case, manufacturing a supposed left wing coup out of a right wing ploy to suppress the vote. Figures

The thing you’re omitting is that the areas facing the vote suppression that justified extending the vote were not the “Bolsonaro strongholds”
Bolsonaro stronghold regions had already closed their polling stations. My understanding from elections past is that once the vote is finalized in the machine you can’t just turn it back on for more voting. Leftist areas did not shut off their machines or close polling stations. They were prepared. This is an attempt to steal the election.

Funny how up until a few hours ago there was basically no coverage of Brazil’s election in Anglo circles but now after all the shady stuff there are hundreds of MAGA accounts calling for fraud. Guess someone sent a memo

Twitter’s propaganda machine is up and running now trying to paint the reality of right wingers doing vote suppression and right wing electoral judges not acting to protect the election as “left wing Supreme Court Justices stealing the election”.

Don’t fall for it.
