But he's beating the non top 10 players consistently. If you're mostly only losing to top 10 players then there's a silver lining in that stat
zverev’s h2h to sinner and alcaraz is 7-0 this year

He's struggled this year, and the ranking reflects that. But he's finding form again now , and his ranking will also reflect that.
@jaiswalanmol888 @Alice0919082253 И почему же такой замечательный ДеМинаур всё ещё не на ATP Finals с такой прекрасной статистикой?

Well at least he's mainly losing to top 10 players. De Minuar has had a few losses against players who aren't top 10 this year. Ok maybe Alex DM is the kind of player who peaks against the top, and that's to his credit. But Zverev is more consistent in beating non top 10
@Alice0919082253 The worthy number 1 is also decided by your top 10 wins. If DeMinaur has more top 10 wins than Zverev, it definitely shows how pathetic Zverev is

They even said they didn't expect much from Novak. Hahaha he proved that wrong. Even if Sun gets her first title over the age of 20, she's still got time to win a lot. I think judging someone's career a failure at 16 is sad - especially when late bloomer success is rising
@Alice0919082253 Exactly. Why on earth would you say such things about a 16 year old who has only just started their professional career. She has so much time to improve and learn

"Fans" can be the worst sometimes. And totally disrespectful to De Minuar too, as if he's some awful thing. He's had a week to be proud of, and in a sense, De Minuar needs the final more in terms of the fact Zverev already has Turin guaranteed. Alex still gets the #1!!
@Alice0919082253 I think what makes me the most upset tonight is reading his fans' reactions. At least you're here. 🙏

Well she plays better than many much older than her which is all that matters
While Gauff, etc., looked like 26 when they were 16, Xinran Sun looks like at 6yo 🤣 never in life this girl is 16

What a lovely compliment for a 40 year old! I'm sure many would be happy to hear that they looked as beautiful and young as Harriet

Getting enough points to be #1 is hardly a scam

She has worked really hard to get here. Hats off to her!
Not a massive fan of Dart but I admire her work ethic and application.

She’s close to guaranteeing her place in the Australian Open main draw.

Not fair to judge someone based on how they are at 16. I seem to recall another teenager that was criticised for his attitude and some of his losses. Who was it? Oh yes , Federer the 20 times GS champion. I think as Sun matures , which she will, she'll go far
Xinran Sun a fraud

Can’t keep the ball in play to save her life
Horrible attitude after every point
Won’t hear her name again after today

Been one of my favourite seasons! The success of Zverev, Cobolli, Shelton and others hitting purple patches has been some of my personal highlights of the season. Not everyone would have liked it and that's fine, it doesn't make it a bad season. Been plenty of quality matches
There are many reasons why this is the worst men’s tennis season in memory, and this is sure one of them.

Rankings award consistency, not your record against top 10 players. And this year , he has consistently made the latter rounds in the majority of tournaments he played - whilst last year he was losing early a few times. Not his fault what the draws are
Zverev falls to 3-9 against top 10 players in 2026, by far the worst record of any year-end world No.1

If Zverev isn't a worthy #1 because he lost to De Minuar (a top 10 player) then by that logic Sinner and Alcaraz failed by losing to Mensik and Bergs respectively this year - neither of which are top 10. The #1 ranking reflects how much you win, not who you lose to.

If only more people were like you! And yes, he's mentioned it on a few occasions (I guess I binge more interviews of him as a fan!), and it appears his mother really helped him believe success was possible - he praised her for it at the USO. His mum deserves lots of credit, too
@Alice0919082253 Regardless of like or dislike it's wrong to say Zverev doesn't deserve to be No1 imo. I didn't realise his doctors told him that when he was young btw.

We all make stupid comments, but I just don't understand why someone would want to make comments like that as it only will make the person you are trash talking more fired up when you next play. Hopefully Griekspoor learns from this and speaks more respectfully next time
2 Hafta önce Griekspoor : "Zverev'in oynamasını izleyemiyorum. Tek yaptığı topu 400 kez sektirmek. ABD Açık finalindeki seviyesi vasattı."

Bugün Zverev, Griekspoor'u yenerek yeni dünya #1'i oldu ve Sinner'ı tahtından indirdi.

People may like to play down Zverev's achievements, but he's at the ranking he is for a reason. Even though Arthur had a bad day, losing to Alex is no shame. Arthur can still beat quite a few top 30 players, which is all very promising
Not a day for Arthur Fery to remember in any hurry.

Solid week though and more experience gained.

Almighty rise up the rankings but just remember that doesnt mean he should win every match he plays, especially against the top players

I agree, I don't think anyone has said that he'll be top 10, apart from some British media outlet just being hopeful. If there's any hype over Fery, it's because he's had the best year of his career. It's ok to be excited about that and realistic about how high his ceiling is
@BarclayCard18 I would love to see who you are getting the views off that Fery will be a top 10.

The issue for me is that people put so many qualifiers in when they talk about Zverev's success, to a degree that I don't see them do with other players. It almost seems to make people uncomfortable to say that he deserves it, when he's worked so hard. It's that I find unfair
Two truths can coexist right? Amazing achievement still doesn’t change my words of 3mths btw.

Zverev will be the 30th ATP World Number 1 come Monday.

4 years after being so close to it, but then being halted via injury, he finally accomplishes it.

What a season.

Simply remarkable. So well deserved.
