This is a very moving story in a very confusing time. Earlier this week, Yossi Cohen, whose son Amit was murdered by Hamas at the Nova festival on October 7, protested outside the home of former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot, whose son Gal was killed fighting in Gaza. Cohen accused Eisenkot of betraying his country and blamed him for his son's death. A police complaint was subsequently filed over alleged threats against Eisenkot's wife.
Today, Cohen met with Eisenkot and his wife, apologized for his words, and called for an end to political hostility and violence. Eisenkot accepted the apology, embraced Cohen, and asked that the police complaint be withdrawn. Two grieving fathers, divided by politics, finding a moment of reconciliation. Hope for us all.

Actually, the opposite is likely to happen. Dems winning 54-55 Senate seats and a ton of House seats gives them enough room to heavily constrain the agitated progressives in the party. Further, the moderates are the overwhelming majority of the surprise winners tonight. Why is the narrative that left populists are the face of the future while the moderates aren't?
