Bibi admitting he’s destroyed foundational aspects of Israeli national Security. The End of US assistance. Becoming a global pariah. Sanctions enroute. Quite the campaign message.
1/ Benjamin Netanyahu got the last set of polls last night. They argue Likud and his block are eroding fast.
Then, came his remarks on Israel's economy. These are among the most extraordinary he has made in a long political career. Whatever their intent, they carry real weight for the Israeli economy – before Tuesday's election, and regardless of who forms the next government.

In an interview with journalist Roy Katz, aired Friday, the prime minister said American military aid to Israel is coming to an end. "It's over. It's only a question of time," he said. Israelis should get used to no longer receiving tens of billions of dollars in U.S. defense assistance, he added, "because America has changed."

That alone is remarkable. There is a growing recognition in Israel that U.S. military aid in its current form will have to change, and might end, as bipartisan support for Israel erodes in Washington. Netanyahu himself has spoken before about wanting to wean Israel off the aid.

But there is a distance between that recognition and a sitting prime minister effectively announcing the end of one of the pillars of the U.S.–Israel strategic relationship. The current Memorandum of Understanding – $38 billion over ten years – runs through September 2028. It is embedded in a web of interests that includes the American defense industry, and Israel's diplomats in Washington work hard to sustain it. Israel's friends in Congress, operating in an increasingly difficult political environment, are still fighting to preserve the special relationship. When the prime minister himself says "it's over," that is a hard message for Israel's defense establishment, and for those in Washington still trying to help.

And that was only the opening.

"There could be sanctions, including banking sanctions," Netanyahu said. Israel, he explained, must prepare an economy capable of bypassing them.

This is a different order of magnitude entirely.

Some background is needed. In the world of international sanctions, comprehensive banking sanctions against a country are among the most powerful tools available to major powers. They are not import restrictions, consumer boycotts, or even arms embargoes. Broad financial sanctions go after an economy's circulatory system.

Israel's banks depend on the global financial system: correspondent banks, clearing, credit lines, the ability to move money across borders. Without access to banks abroad, the Israeli economy stops functioning. And such sanctions don't hit only the banks. They hit everyone who banks with them – companies, exporters, importers, investors, employers. When foreign banks become nervous about a country's financial institutions, they tend to cut ties well beyond what the law strictly requires.

In other words, a sweeping financial sanctions regime would push Israel toward the category of Iran or Russia.

It would be worse. Iran and Russia sit on vast oil and gas reserves. Even under sanctions, they keep selling – mainly in Asia and parts of the Global South. Israel's economy is not built on commodities. Its strength comes from integration into the global economy: human capital, technology, research, advanced services.

According to the Israel Innovation Authority, Israeli high-tech exported roughly $85 billion in goods and services in 2025 – 58 percent of all Israeli exports – and accounted for about half of the economy's growth. It is the engine of the economy, and it depends on foreign markets, foreign capital, and the free movement of money.

Netanyahu did not say who might impose banking sanctions. A prime minister raising this possibility, in the same breath as forecasting the end of U.S. aid, should prompt immediate questions. Is he referring to European sanctions? American ones? above all: how did Israel get to the point where this is being discussed at all?

There was more - and much worse.

Masses of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv on Saturday night as part of an anti-government demonstration, days before the October 27 general election, with protesters calling for a commission of inquiry into the failures surrounding Hamas’s October 7, 2023, onslaught.

The election frontrunner and main rival to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot, participated in the protest and was greeted with enthusiastic cheers and chants from the crowd of “Who’s coming? The next prime minister.”

This text from one of Ukraine’s most prominent journalists Mykhailo Tkach describes very well of what is going on in the world right now:

“How incredibly lucky all these narcissistic clowns are that Ukraine continues to hold the front line despite all the obstruction from global Ukrainians, the Poles have time to wave their white eagles around and argue over historical definitions, while simultaneously buying real estate in Spain so they have somewhere to flee if the russians attack.

The Germans have time to investigate who saved them from russian aggression by blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines. I wonder what will happen first: a verdict against those who defended them or a russian invasion?

So much time has been bought that they can even afford to divide themselves into left and right.

Meanwhile, the French and Italians are already attacking themselves.

And Musk has the luxury of figuring out how his own Starlink works, where it is being slowed down, and by whom.

Instead of preparing to resist, the civilized world seems to be busy destroying itself.

People will do anything to avoid doing what actually needs to be done.

They will all be incredibly lucky for a second time if the dictators die of obesity and old age.

And if they don’t – well, they don’t.”

The recent Starlink / Starshield incident in Ukraine has created a dangerous precedence for the US export industry, many haven't yet grasped. The sudden deactivation respectively curtailing of those systems without warning not only cost precious lives, but also equipment worth lame game between the White House (Trump) and SpaceX (Musk) is going on, ultimately it doesn't matter. It showed the world that the USA are not a reliable partner any more. Pointing at some obscure "violation of terms of services" without providing the exact passage are just increasing that notion that this was a political move.

The explanation that Starlink must not be used for "offensive" means is nonsense, too. Starlink has never been turned on over Russia, and using it in Ukraine is by definition defensive in nature. You can even argue that hitting Russian targets in Russia is defensive, since you don't have to wait for an attack to be conducted. Even the intention is enough to warrant action and to eliminate the threat at the source. But this is a different topic.

Furthermore, SpaceX has been fully aware that its Starlink terminals are being used by Ukrainian forces. Especially when considering that Ukraine only recently had to white-list their Starlink terminals for the Ukrainian military so that Russian forces, who have been abundantly using Starlink as well, were locked out. It has always been clear that those Starlink terminals are used for and by the Ukrainian military, and Ukraine has always been thankful for that.

Coming up with this bogus story, now, three weeks before midterms is therefore as transparent as it is shameless. It is obvious for everyone that this was just figleaf statement so that a political agenda can be pushed, an agenda which runs counter to the strategic nationalist interests of the USA, both political and economic.

And this is the real scandal. It is not new that the US had to lock out its technology or supplies to nations with which it had previously good and even cordial relation. Iran under the Shah, South-Vietnam and Cuba before Castro are just three to name it. But as you can see from them, it made perfectly sense back then. Those nations switched sides or disappeared altogether.

Ukraine on the other hand didn't switch sides and even helped the US in the most recent and botched Iran war, despite being short on ammunition itself. The Ukrainian government accepted every possible compromise and offered an unconditional ceasefire from the start. Russia on the hand refused all of it and is demanding surrender. Yet, it gets this treatment? Unbelievable.

This will be noted by all clients around the globe who purchase US weapons and technology. If agreements are not honored and can unilaterally and even clandestinely be altered based on the whims of a few, who only follow their own motives or election lies, then the all concept reliability falls apart.

Whether it is Starlink, the F-35, Tomahawk missiles or HIMARS. All those systems run on software and in many cases can only properly operate with recent updates. You don't even need have a kill switch. You can only refuse to update and many of those systems lose more than 90% of their effectiveness within a short period, making worthless.

This is why we see the blame game between Musk and Trump. I'm sure that people around those guys told them how absolutely shortsighted and stupid this step was. It will fall back on the entire US industry. Not even those two guys are worth that losses and backlash. A functional US Congress would immediately start subpoenas and hearings, asking questions in order to mitigate the damage, but here we are.

Trump and Musk have given the best reason why not to buy American. Customers - governmental and private alike - around the globe will take note of this and act accordingly, and I wouldn't be surprised if this won't be limited to US military products only. An absolutely senseless and avoidable own goal.

Umm, so does this apply to the U.S. military too? SpaceX will disable Starshield when it thinks that the U.S. military defending Taiwan, for example, is using the network for “unequivocally offensive” strikes? Or does this only apply to Ukrainians?

The Epstein scandal just got a whole lot uglier.

Newly released emails show Trump's White House helped edit the DOJ/FBI memo declaring there was no basis for further investigations.

The suggested edits? Redacted.

Think about that. The president's own staff had a hand in drafting the official explanation for why investigators should stop digging into a scandal involving his longtime former friend.

What exactly did the White House want changed?

Release the fucking edits.
