The ambition should not be merely to build something more intelligent than us. It is to build Intelligence Systems through which we produce more intelligence together. x.com/i/article/2105…

The Natural Intelligence of a Pond
If we shift our perspective and understand how intelligence systems actually work, we can see the path ahead for artificial intelligence systems is much more like a natural ecosystem than an engineered tower.
Let’s consider the intelligence of a natural ecosystem like a pond. A country pond has no central authority. Its health and stability emerge from the dynamic interactions of water, sunlight, bacteria, plants, fish, birds, animals, and insects.
No single organism runs the pond, yet the pond adapts, cleanses itself, and thrives. It is a living, self-regulating ecology of dynamic exchange.
The answer to unstable, self-reinforcing AI loops is not an industry cartel granting itself permission to slow down behind closed doors.
The answer is an open, distributed, living ecology of human-centered intelligence that provides a critical counterbalance to centralized power.

The warnings were real, Dean, and I take them seriously. But closing models doesn't help the defenders who need them most: small shops, hospitals, schools and local governments. Strong open weights running on-premise, where security teams can inspect, harden and patch their own systems, belong in the answer too. Resilient Human-Machine Intelligence comes from many capable, accountable nodes, not a few gatekeepers.
We tried to warn the world and far too often, to be frank, we were yelled at for doing so. “Regulatory capture,” “marketing hype,” “doomer anxiety,” “fear-mongering about open source,” “why don’t you talk about the benefits?”

Perfect for the POND!
NVIDIA releases Nemotron-3.5-Bolt-E4B, a new model that runs locally on 6GB RAM. 💚

Bolt-E4B can run on edge devices like phones and delivers top-tier performance for its size. Trained on Gemma 4, it supports vision.

Proud to share new work from our Paradigms of Intelligence team toward AI designed for decentralized hardware, where low-power communication and fault tolerance are critical requirements. Using Neural Cellular Automata (NCA), @mayalen_etc and her co-authors show that spatial locality is not a barrier to complex multi-step reasoning.

Can complex multi-step reasoning emerge purely from cells that only talk to immediate neighbors?

Happy to share our paper “Reasoning with Neural Cellular Automata (NCA)”, from our team at Google, Paradigms of Intelligence 🧵👇

How much energy does it cost cells to explore their environment?

What is the cost of connection?
And the cost of being isolated?

Replying to @irinarish
@irinarish I'm building Inti to be the Human-Machine Intelligence node that interfaces humans, functionally solving the human emotional/ego bugginess that gets in the way of communication, exchange and resolution.

Basically, there is no plan on how they're going to turn Machine Intelligence into, y'know, profits.

Not saying that it can't/won't be done. Just that there's no concept of what Intelligence actually is and how it becomes economic value. There's going to be a price to pay.

Introducing Flint, @Recursive_SI’s first model: a fast local coding model built with our automated research system, the Eureka Machine.

• Best-in-class fast local coding
• Up to 2x faster than comparable models: 125+ tokens/sec on a MacBook Pro, 150+ on RTX Spark
• Built from hs

Private, unmetered intelligence on your own machine. Open weights available now on @huggingface, run it locally on your favorite framework or try it for free on @opencode or @pidotdev.

Where does intelligence live: in one model, in a person, or in the connections between them?
