Electric Plant CEO @justinmast reveals how his team built a Neuralink for trees that can detect when plants are thirsty or stressed by reading their electrical signals:

"Us and a very few other people in the world are recording these signals, and we’re training models to see physiology of the plant."

"With this first model release, we can see the photosystem efficiency, how well is the plant turning sunlight into sugar, in real time. We can see if the plant’s thirsty, if it’s stressed."

"Right now it’s functioning like a WHOOP band for a tree. But we’re tapped in directly to those electrical signals, so it functions like a Neuralink for trees, too."

Trained on 7M+ hours of plant electrical signal across 125+ species. That makes Bombadil the most f directly recorded electrical biosignals in existence. The animal equivalent would be one model that reads the brainwaves of blue whales, horseshoe crabs and fruit flies.

Electric Plant CEO @justinmast explains how plants can hear insects approaching and change their chemistry to defend themselves before being attacked:

"What we can do now is decode eight different vital signs or physiological functions inside the plant. That’s what we’re going what’s in the paper."

"On top of that, there’s this whole list of plant capabilities. Peer-reviewed science has shown plants are capable of hearing insects come."

"They’re capable of changing their chemistry to deter those insects in advance. They’re communicating with each other. They’re acutely aware of the chemical composition in the air or in the soil."

"We keep a list that’s probably up to 78 things. That’s our product roadmap. Some of that will work, and some of those things won’t work, too."

Electric Plant CEO @justinmast reveals how plants' electrical signals can tell exactly when someone enters a room:

"Our AI team was like, hey Justin, we can tell when you’re coming into the room and when you’re leaving based purely on the electrical signals of plants."

"I was at’s true. They’re like, yesterday you walked in at 7:53 AM, the day before that, 8:03 AM."

"It’s this weird combination of their potential sensing of us, door opening and closing changes the pressure signature in the room, lights on and off, plants are acutely aware of the light levels. All those things combined, they had pinned me down."

American Housing CEO @rileymeik explains how AI could make it possible to mass-produce thousands of homes a year without making them identical:

"Most manufactured products built in high volume, you’re building the same thing over and over. All iPhones are the same, all Model Ys are different. We have to adapt to different sites, different zoning requirements, different building codes."

"Without AI, we would have to throw bodies at this, tons of architects and engineers designing custom homes for every site."

"Today, we have a standardized kit of parts, think of them as Lego pieces. The same walls, they just come in different sizes. We use AI to figure out the ideal way to arrange these components into the best house on every site."

"At some point the company will be building thousands and thousands of homes a year with very few of those being identical to each other, which is an incredibly hard problem when you’re trying to manufacture at scale. AI really just makes that possible."

fascinating to learn about rlcr from @GenReasoning: training language models as agent orgs sharing a msg board and workspace

thank you @rosstaylor90 for coming on same day to share the news of avalon-m1-mini during industry news!
General Reasoning CEO @rosstaylor90 explains how their new RLCR experiment taught AI agents to organize themselves, hire teammates, and decide when to DM each other:

"The idea of RLCR is, instead of just trying to optimize single agents, how do you optimize collective arch communities, and eventually economies, markets."

"We optimize an organization in a Slack-like harness. They learn who they should hire, what roles they should hire for, when they should be pinging someone annoyingly in their direct messages versus making a public channel."

"It’s not just another model, it’s a whole new ball game. It’s a whole new direction."

American Housing CEO @rileymeik explains why prefab housing never revolutionized construction, and how he's redesigning homes to be built like cars:

"Prefab has been around for a very long time, but typically housing manufacturers produce parts that they sell to home builders. ing two-by-fours and drywall."

"Because we’re vertically integrated, we get to choose what we build and how we build it. We’re not using the hand tools you would buy from Home Depot. We’re using the same equipment you would see in an automotive or aerospace factory."

"This is the first house built using a system that’s meant to be produced by machines and put together by machines rather than built by hand by people."

thank you @MarathonFusion team for coming on mts studio live, and sharing the story of building a fusion reactor in san francisco!
Marathon Fusion CEO @kylecschiller explains why superintelligence could do far more for fusion than for solar panels:

"There’s all this discourse around what we’re going to do in the future when we have superintelligence. We’re probably not going to optimize solar panels that ready very close to the maximally efficient end state of what a solar panel is."

"I think about how bad fusion is today, and I get really excited instead of depressed."

"We have this machine that the more intelligence we throw at it, the better it gets at spitting out energy, and also all other forms of matter. That’s the thing I wanna bet on."

Matter Labs CEO @gluk64 warns AI and quantum computing are exposing a dangerous flaw in how banks secure their systems:

"Commander does not require you to run a Prividium ledger. You can do it on top of your existing Besu chain, you can do it with public blockchains. From there idium Ledger, our secure high performance ZK proven chain."

"Some players in the space are very actively looking into upgrading the core banking systems, because they feel the pressure from AI and from the quantum advances, to be ready for Q day."

"A friend of mine said many years ago that Bitcoin is the best thing that happened to cybersecurity. It’s finally entering the phase where they feel in full how dangerous it is to operate systems based on security by obscurity and not based on public standards open to public scrutiny."

"Zero knowledge proofs, blockchains can help defend yourself in this new era of AI and quantum."

General Reasoning CEO @rosstaylor90 reveals how their new RLCR experiment led AI agents running a simulated company to independently hire middle managers:

"My background was in economics. How do you actually test these things? You don’t have natural experiments. The beauty of ives is you can actually test these things."

"We had a CEO agent and some specialists, and just said, you decide who to hire. They’d hire lead engineers, middle management. I’m like, oh my God, is this really AGI, middle management? But that is actually predicted by economic theory."

"The bigger question is where does the human fit in. In a lot of these domains you can probably go fully automated, but is that even desirable? If I had an automated hedge fund, I’m sure I’d want some say at some level of decision-making."

Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.

Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.

Now, we’re building Francisco to achieve record power density.

Marathon Fusion CSO @jfp_fusioneer reveals how his team turned mercury into real gold and beat a world record previously held by CERN:

"It started about 18 months ago when Adam Rutkowski, the CTO, discovered that you could go from mercury to gold with a neutron reaction. We’re f nuclides. We’re arbitraging price differences in matter."

"We wanted to beat the CERN record. CERN has this multi-billion dollar facility operated by some of the smartest people in the world."

"Maybe a scrappy fusion company can go out and beat that. We procured some natural mercury and used a very modest neutron source."

"There’s an isotope of mercury. You hit mercury with a neutron, and you knock out two neutrons. The slightly lighter mercury decays in a couple of days into stable gold. We measured the photons, calculated the rate at which we were making gold, compared it to the previous world record, and it turned out we surpassed that."

Marathon Fusion CEO @kylecschiller explains how turning mercury into gold could make alchemy a trillion-dollar industry:

"Mercury and gold are literally one proton away. There’s one bit in there, if you can flip this, you’ve created a different element."

"Particle accelerators, ologies have existed. There’s just nothing out there that really takes us up to the trillion dollar level. Fusion will."

"People compare this to synthetic diamonds or aluminum. Aluminum prices cratered over a 100,000x increase in supply. What we’re proposing is comparatively modest."

“If things go really well, we might double global gold production. That’s another $500 billion per year that we can invest in clean energy. This is an incredibly resilient asset."

a16z's @YODELAGARZA predicts governments will have to shut down critical infrastructure within the next year to patch it before AI-powered hackers get in:

"I think it’s almost certain, but not for the reasons that bad stuff is gonna happen. Governments will take systems down. will just be shut off until they can patch it and bring it back safely."

"The banks that got access to Glasswing six, eight months ago, they’ve been doing nothing but patching for the last six months."

"I think it was either Bank of America or JP Morgan that’s hiring an additional thousand people to focus just on patching."

Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially data and networks.

The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now:

➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated.

➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP.

➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation.

➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims.

For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

a16z's @YODELAGARZA warns AI is making the security flaws companies chose to leave unfixed easy to exploit:

"The first CISO happened at Citigroup, right after a bunch of Russian hackers got in and stole a ton of money. In the late ’90s, systems were trivially secure. You could t, connect to a port, and start issuing commands as root."

"Into the security world crept this concept of risk acceptance. The thinking was, to exploit these vulnerabilities, it’s going to take hundreds of hours of very technical people. The same way we rate physical safes, by how many hours it takes to break in."

"What’s happened in the last two, three years with this AI revolution is that the cost of that knowledge work has gone essentially to zero. We’re finding issues in code that have been there for many years just because agents and bots are finally looking."

"For the next three to six months, we’re just gonna be seeing a ton of these. We have the PHP one, one in Bind, one in the Linux kernel. There’s four or five others that are currently embargoed."

Dark Æon author @JOEBOTxyz challenges Ray Kurzweil's singularity timeline with the predictions that didn’t come true:

"If you read carefully the specifics of The Age of Spiritual Machines and The Singularity Is Near, it wasn’t some amazing one-to-one prediction of the future."
. The lines kept going up. But he predicted that by now most processing would be done on carbon nanotubes, most people would live within virtual reality, most homes would have a humanoid robot. None of that happened."

"Futurism is not an exact science, and there are as many predicted futures as there are fevered egos."

"I grew up with all these predictions of apocalypses. If the singularity is the apocalypse, that’s the one that pulled the right lottery number, because all the others have not yet panned out."
