Who out there would find a Computer Architecture blog or podcast interesting? What if I arranged to do one in collaboration with folks like @AMD, @Arm, @intelnews, @risc_v?
On some level I agree. But on another I don't. Many friends have entered software engineering without formally studying it, but they're *very* smart women and men who could easily understand this, if it was ever made accessible. I intend to make it more accessible to everyone.

My favorite @tim_cook moment was when he took the plunge on Apple Silicon. Sure, he didn’t design it (Srouji’s org did) but such a move had to have his fingerprints on it 💪

One thing I’ll say in defense of Apple is that for many folks I know over there, it’s more than just a job. They see it almost as a calling. Yes, it gets taken too far sometimes, but nobody could ever say they don’t care. Cook had an amazing run 🥰
Tim Cook on his last day at Apple talking like it's his last day alive. Sir, you're stepping down as CEO, not delivering your own eulogy.

Finished the Lutron training to get access to the RadioRA3 config software. Would be nice if they had just the tech training without the silly sales pushing videos. Especially cliche male driven scenarios not reflective of modern families. Maybe just skip that crap.

Like, I get you have to make this for Bob who has used a computer one time and never heard of a mesh network. But man. What a waste of 3 hours (over the past few months) to to through most of that drivel. Just give me the required specs and let me config the mesh thanks 👍

Literally Lutron’s thinking was “how do we annoy people who like our technology into not liking it with useless drivel”

A good bridge CPU is not easy to make. AMD succeeded (x86-32/64 not really 2 distinct ISAs). Itanium failed at this (x86-32 ISA part was significantly underpowered).

If you wanna follow #HotChips then you should follow @ServeTheHome! I am following remotely this year.
At Hot Chips 2026, IBM showed a crazy new IBM Z CPU that will support IBM Z and @Arm instruction sets natively. This is almost mind-blowing what the @IBM engineers did here. New AI acceleration with redundancy and HBM 3e as well. Wow. servethehome.com/ibm-z-and-linu…

I agree with @ProfMatsuoka 💪 This is a really exciting time to be alive and in the computing industry, especially if you are involved in developing @Arm SoCs
Attending Hot Chips 26 @ Stanford. Suddenly there are three competitive enterprise Arm server chips (four if you include the ‘chimera’ IBM Z chip), namely NVIDIA Vera, Fujitsu Monaka, and Arm AGI, with very different design philosophies. It remains to be seen the relative appeal formance, power, and of course cost. Waiting for real world comparative benchmarks…

For the confused, look at the public Linux kernel KVM patches and you’ll see there’s a magic context synchronization event as you enter an aarch64 VM from Z architecture

And super kudos to IBM on seeing where the wind is blowing 💪

This is the correct way to do dual architecture. Bare metal is possible but comes with a lot of headaches. You can also address those with some magic hardware but less important than running VMs

Enjoy Hot Chips folks! We have some family stuff this year (all good though) so I am watching from home. See you in person next year 🥰

Before I wrote a think piece about national blackouts, I might spend ten minutes learning that there is not a single national power grid in America. Just a thought.

The entire world’s information is at our fingertips. But one still has to actually read it. Too often these days the crux is that nobody bothers to learn for themselves

Yes, and like anyone else who remembers RAM Doubler, Double/Drive Space and other such tools, I too am getting old 😂
Maybe we need to bring RAM Doubler back. Anyone remember RAM Doubler?

My bag didn’t make it on the connecting flight from Newark to Boston, so they put it on the next flight to…Austin. Boston, Austin, same thing right @united 😂
