CMS has finalized the LDL-C Monitoring & Management quality measure in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) as part of the Calendar Year 2027 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule, published yesterday.
The measure, stewarded by the American Heart Association, assesses the percnd older with clinical ASCVD who received an LDL-C test via lipid panel and achieved an LDL-C <70 mg/dL on their most recent test during the measurement period.
For nearly three years, the NLA has been at the forefront advocating to return LDL-C measurement and management as the focus of LDL-C-related quality measurement. The next step is awareness: clinicians, practices, and institutions that participate in MIPS can select this measure as one of the six quality measures that determine their payment adjustment.
