New book. Releasing September 2026.

I poured my heart into it, more than anything I’ve ever written.

It’s a brief, popular-level case that Christianity can explain both the world around us and the deep ache within us. Think Mere Christianity, with an emotional twist, tailored pray it draws people toward the enchanting wonder of the gospel.

Why Christianity Makes Sense by @gavinortlund is my new go-to book to give to non-Christians. It is readable and accessible, efficient and expansive, and rationally and emotionally compelling. Highly recommend.

In times of trouble, the Lord is a stronghold. When the storms around us rage, we can find God to be a stable refuge. Happy thought.

"The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble" (Psalm 37:39).

This is so funny. Clearly I’ve been too negative on AI and overlooking the really good fruit it can bear.

This book is incredible. I can only hope to be mistaken for its author as often as I have been mistaken for the author of Gentle and Lowly.

Could ordinary life be pointing to something more? Dr. @gavinortlund joins me to explore that possibility & the ideas behind his brand-new book, 'Why Christianity Makes Sense: A Book About Jesus, the Mysteries of the World, and the Longings in Your Heart'.

Reflecting today on how surprisingly comforting Heb. 13:8 is: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

So much changes in this life. The world feels chaotic, people let us down, surprises come.

But no matter what else happens, Jesus remains Jesus. Grateful.

This really is a great book.
The gospel really is an enchanting, wondrous story.

For those who know Jesus, happiness in this life anticipatory. It points ahead to Something far greater.

From my new book:

---

Take a moment to think back on a moment in your life when you felt deeply happy. Perhaps as a ddenly realizing it is the first day of summer vacation. Perhaps when you were falling in love and it first hit you: They love me back! Perhaps it was achieving a dream, or holding your child, or enjoying a simple moment of tranquility in nature.

What does that moment mean, ultimately?

If Jesus rose from the dead, then that moment was a messenger, whispering to you of Something far greater out ahead. It’s telling you something you cannot learn in any other way.

Thus, when you first arrive in heaven, your life will finally have a settled, unified interpretation. And all the joys you have ever known will be gathered into their crescendo—what they really meant all along.

And it will never stop. In fact, it will keep getting better—forever.

If it sounds too good to be true, you are grasping what I’m talking about.
